Constipation

January 31st, 2007

If you are shy about talking about this stuff, do not keep reading.  I’m not that shy.  :)  So everyone has heard of constipation.  But do we really know what it means or what it feels like?  I didn’t.  I’ve read that constipation is a symptom of pregnancy but I had not experienced it.  Until this week….  At night I had a slight cramp in my lower left belly again.  Then the next day I could not go #2.  The day after that, I was able to get something out but it was hard and just little pieces.  So I turned to my usual research page wikipedia.  Also, I looked on a couple baby websites.  They said the drink lots of water and maybe some prune juice.  I started drinking water like crazy and it worked!  The next day I had a great #2 and I felt cleansed!  Now, I’m drinking a lot of water everyday. :)

In this process I learned a lot.  Check out the stool chart below.  I never knew something like this was documented!

Ready for motherhood?

January 30th, 2007

Yesterday after work, I went to Pish’s office to meet Norma (the new front office staff member).  I opened the door and I heard a baby screaming and crying.  I turn the corner and I see Norma holding a 5-month old baby.  My first thought was, “she brought her baby to work???”  Then I realized it was a patient’s baby.  The kid was crying hysterically.  I guess Trish and Norma had tried everything for about 15 minutes and the baby would not stop crying.  So I asked if I could try.  I carried the baby, gave him a toy, and 5 seconds later, he stopped crying.  woo hoo!  Maybe I am ready for this mommy business!  I hope this works on my own kid.  :)

I did realize i need to start working out my arms though.  I carried the kid for less than 10 minutes and my arms were tired.  He was a big baby but still….my arms are weak.

Baby closet & Rubiks addiction

January 29th, 2007

This weekend was pretty relaxing.  Dim sum with friends and we did stuff around the house.  Thanks to Pish for his hard work.  He tore out the closet bar in the baby room and repainted the whole closet.  After that, he installed a new closet organizer.  Now there are shelves and more hanging room for all the baby clothes.

This weekend I had an obsession with Rubik’s cube.  After seeing the movie “Pursuit of Happyness” with Wil Smith, it motivated me to solve that puzzle.  If Wil can do it, so can I!  As a kid, I could never solve that thing.  We used to peel the stickers off and just re-glue it on in the solved position.  :)  So this weekend I was at the store and bought myself a cube.  I spent hours working on it!  It is pretty addicting.  I solved it twice on Sunday morning but once was by accident.  Then last night I learned a new algorithm that is way easier.  But I was shocked to learn that once you know the algorithm, it’s really not that hard.

A little history about the Rubiks cube:  It was created in 1974 by Erno Rubik, a Hungarian Sculptor.  A Normal (3×3x3) Rubik’s Cube can have (8! × 38−1) × (12! × 212−1)/2 = 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 different positions.  Even with all these different permutations, all Cubes can be solved in twenty-seven or fewer moves.  (I haven’t gotten that good yet…).  The current world record of 10.47 seconds was set at the 2006 US Nationals competition.  AMAZING!  There are even people who do it blindfolded or behind their back.

24 weeks

January 26th, 2007

We had our 24 week doctor appointment yesterday.  I think we are in waiting room longer than we see the doctor.  We did the usual….urine sample, weight (I’ve gained 14 lbs), blood pressure (good), then the doctor comes in.  She measured my belly and then used the hand-held doppler device to hear the baby’s heart beat.  I think it woke the baby up because she kicked right at it.  That was it.  Doctor says baby sounds good.  Be back in 4 weeks….

Cravings?

January 25th, 2007

Lots of prego women have weird cravings.  I don’t think I’ve had many but this week for some reason, I really want good vanilla bean ice cream and sometimes with some root beer on top.  Root beer floats!!!  YUM YUM.  Last night at 9pm I went to the grocery store just buy to vanilla ice cream and root beer (plus I needed some eggs too :)).  When the baby wants root beer floats I’m supposed to go get it right???

Condo for Sale!

January 24th, 2007

We’ve decided to sell our condo in Aliso Viejo.  The heater is all fixed and it’s ready for sale.  If you know anyone that is interested PLEASE let us know.  I’ll be putting it up for sale this week.

It is a 1100 sq ft condo that has 2 bedrooms/2 baths.  Currently, it is tenant occupied and she is on a month-to-month lease.  This could be a possible investment opportunity for someone because the tenant would like to stay if possible.  Here is the flyer I created.  Please send it to everyone you know!

More car issues

January 24th, 2007

I got a call from the mechanic yesterday afternoon and they found more problems with my car.  The radiator is also cracked and they need to also fix the thermostat and gasket.  The total is going to be over $800!  :(  So it’s still in the shop.  Thanks to my mom for letting me borrow her car the past couple days…
