I had my regular check up with my doctor today. I’m at 29 weeks, have gained about 20 lbs and baby is doing well. Heartbeat is strong and she’s moving a lot. After that appointment, I had to go for a glucose screening test to check for gestational diabetes.
After fasting for a couple hours, I had to drink a sugar drink they gave me. One hour later they drew my blood. The place I went to was not compassionate. I think all they do is blood work and they pump people in and out of there. The guy that took my blood was not gentle at all! My arm still hurts now from how hard he pricked me! I hope I don’t have to do this again. I’ll get my results in a couple days…

I’ve been pretty good so far with not buying stuff for the baby. There are so many cute girl outfits but I’ve been able to resist for now. But yesterday I saw this and had to get it. Check out the shoes! So cute.
There was a time in college when I only wore Nike. So I had to revert to my sporty ways and get this one outfit for the new baby.

| linea nigra |
The darkening of the linea alba, the hard-to-see white line that runs down the center of the abdomen to the top of the pubic bone, during pregnancy. Pigmentation changes usually fade after delivery. |
This weekend, I started to notice that a dark line is starting to form on my belly. It’s not too dark yet but I see it starting around my belly button. I talked to my mom and she had the line when she was pregnant so I guess I’m getting it too.
In the past couple days, the baby has been moving A LOT and not just a flutter or a poke anymore. She kicks hard! I feel it a couple times during the day and always when when I’m trying to sleep. I guess she’s getting bigger and it’s tighter in there but geesh, take it easy sometimes!
Last night I had a weird dream. The baby was born early and was really small. The size of your index finger…small. I know it’s odd but it’s a dream. The baby was all swaddled up and fell asleep in bed with me. In the dream, I woke up and noticed that I had rolled on top of her. I freaked out, got up but there was no baby….just an empty blanket. It looked like the baby had rolled off the bed. I searched all over the floor but could not find the little one. That’s all I remember about the dream but I thought I’d share since it was so weird.
This morning, I can finally breathe (somewhat) without taking a Sudafed. Maybe this sinus congestion is finally going away (took a whole week!). I’m going to try not taking any medicine today to see if it will last.

We had another ultrasound yesterday and we had the tech confirm the gender again. Just wanted to be sure.
Our appointment went well. Baby is growing normally and weighs 2 lbs. 7 oz. She’s getting big! We learned a little more from the doctor too. The reason I have these extra ultrasounds is because of my elevated HCG levels. Usually that’s a sign of an issue with the placenta so they like to monitor it. But at all my appointments, everything has been normal and the doctor did not see anything to be worried about. whew!
I still have pretty bad sinus congestion. I hope it goes away by this weekend. I really would like to be sleep through the night. I need my rest before the baby comes! The ultrasound tech said it’s good it is only my sinus though. She said coughs are bad. Some coughs can cause the placenta to rupture. scary!
Here are some pics we got from the ultrasound:
We got a picture with her eyes open! The tech says that rarely ever happens!

The tech found out Pish was a dentist so she pointed out our baby’s teeth. I don’t really see it but supposedly the little white lines in the circle are her teeth.

I still haven’t been able to breathe through my nose since Monday. I was trying not to take any medication to see if it would go away but just drinking liquids has not helped. I called my doctor yesterday and the nurse said I could take Sudafed, Claritin or TavistD. Another thing she recommended was a saline nasal spray which contains no medication. I decided to try the nasal spray first. It seemed to help a little but not for long. Last night I even tried a humidifier with the Vick’s vapor steam but that didn’t help much either.
So this morning, I stopped at CVS to buy some Sudafed. I searched the racks and could only find Sudafed PE, etc…(the nurse said it had to be plain Sudafed). So I went to the pharmacist to ask if they had plain Sudafed and he said I had to go the front register to ask for it. I guess a law has been passed that they can’t just put it on the racks anymore. Kids are taking it to get high! Who would have thought??? So I had to go the front, ask for it, show my driver’s license, and sign a piece of paper before I could even pay for it.
Just took a dose….hopefully I can breathe through my nose again soon.

Last night I attended an expecting moms nursing class at Babies R Us. I wasn’t able to stay for the whole class but I stayed long enough to watch the video and I learned about the three different positions to breastfeed.
I really hope my baby latches on when the time comes and I hope it doesn’t hurt. I’ve heard some mommies say that breastfeeding hurts more than labor. That is not good!

“It is not only the year of the Pig, it is the Year of the Golden Pig. According to Chinese Foklore, this is an event that occurs once in every 600 years and will ensure that a baby born on this year will experience a prosperous and wealthy life.”
Since our baby is going to be wealthy, I might as well stop working now….
