Getting close?

April 29th, 2007

Stop reading if you are grossed out by bodily fluids.

I just got off the phone with my doctor.  A little earlier today I had some brownish discharge.  I didn’t think too much of it because I have been getting a lot of mucasy discharge for the last week.  But after dinner I decided to look it up online.  This is what I found on babycenter.com:

“Call your practitioner right away if you’re not yet at 37 weeks and you notice an increase in discharge or a change in the type of discharge (if it becomes watery, mucus-like, or bloody — even if it’s just tinged with pink or brownish old blood). “

ahhh!!……I’m at 37 weeks right now so I decided to call my doctor.  They paged her and luckily my doctor was the one on call.  She told me it’s nothing to worry about.  It could be an after-affect from my last visit with her and it is normal.  The baby is moving a lot so I think everything is ok.  Pish is very relieved because the Warrior game is on right now and he didn’t want to have to miss the game.  :)

Yesterday, Pish let me break his rule.  I’m not supposed to go more than 30 minutes away from home but we decided to head up to LA to meet Mike and Show’s baby - Sydnie.  She is so precious!  Weighing only a tiny 5 lbs 5 ozs right now.  It was so nice to see them and to hear Showshan had an easy labor.  She was just glowing when she talked about the baby.

After our visit we headed into westwood to pick up Billy to have dinner.  I’m thinking maybe Pish let me break the rule just so we could eat at his all time favorite restaurant.

After dinner we had to make a stop at Pinkberry :) and then we headed home.

Thanks Mom

April 28th, 2007

I just want to send a big THANKS to my mom who has helped me so much through my pregnancy.  Last week Pish couldn’t make it to my doctor appointment so my mom came with me.  She got to meet my doctor, hear the baby’s heartbeat and I gave her a tour of the hospital so she knows where to go when I go into labor.   Also, my mom has been so nice to keep cooking me yummy food.  I’ll either pick it up from her after work or she even delivers it to us.  THANKS mom!!

1 cm

April 26th, 2007

Just got back from my weekly doctor appointment.  My cervix is 1 centimeter dilated and 50% effaced!  (I think the baby comes when I’m 10 centimeters dilated and 100% effaced?)  So I don’t think I’m close yet but the process is starting!  Pretty exciting!

2am

April 26th, 2007

I woke up before 2am today.  Went for my normal trip to the bathroom and could not sleep anymore.  Why is it that in the middle of the night, I think of all the things I need to do the next day?  After tossing around, I finally gave in and went downstairs to watch some TV and to eat something.  I was hungry again.  :)  Usually after watching a 30 minute show, I can fall asleep on the couch but not this morning.  I just laid there wide awake.  So I started watching a Planet Earth episode we had on Tivo.  Amazing stuff!  Did you know a mother humpback whale takes its baby to a shallow waters for 8 months to keep it safe?  And during these 8 months, the mom does not eat!  She feeds the baby milk everyday to keep the baby strong but in the mean time, she starves herself because there is no food in the shallow waters.  See what moms go through!  Husbands and dads should appreciate women more!!

Something is definitely going on….

April 25th, 2007

I’ve been very lucky to have had an easy pregnancy so far.  No morning sickness or aches and pains.  But as I like to say to Pish everyday, something is definitely going on with my body.  Here’s a list of things I’ve been experiencing:

1. My nails and hair are growing faster
2. Braxton Hicks (sudden tightening of my belly-no pain though)
3. Always wanting to eat (My favorite is still vanilla bean ice cream)
4. Gained 32 lbs (I weigh more than my skinny husband)
5. Hot flashes (At work I usually have a sweater on and a fleece blankie on my lap but lately I get so hot.  I have to wear a short sleeve top everyday now and my hands/feet are always sweaty)
6. Swollen feet (Flip flops everyday now - I know my in-laws won’t like this because I’ve already fallen once while wearing flip flops but my normal shoes don’t fit anymore…)
7. Growing belly (which is a good thing because it makes my butt look small)
8. Belly has dropped (I can tell because it’s pressing against my bladder and I have to pee ALL the time)

I’m completing my 37th (out of 40) week of pregnancy. It’s considered full term now which is good because I’m READY!
