Katie got her first piece of postal mail yesterday!  We received her Social Security card.  I guess she’s official now. 

I started getting a sore throat yesterday and today it is much worse.  I think I’m getting sick and I’m wondering if it’s ok to still breastfeed if I’m sick.  So what’s the first thing I do?  I called my mommy.    She’s coming over to help watch Katie while I rest and I left a message with the pediatrician to find out if it’s ok to breastfeed.  I also just looked online too and it says:  “It’s safe to breastfeed your baby during common infectious illnesses such as colds and flu. Such illnesses are not passed through breast milk.”  I guess I’ll continue our normal breastfeeding routine today.   Moooo….

Katie’s finger nails were pretty long when she was born.  I was scared to cut them though.  They are so delicate!  So I’ve been just filing them with an emery board but it takes forever and I can’t get it short enough.  Finally yesterday, while she was sleeping, I was brave enough to use the baby nail clippers on her and I think I gave her a great manicure if i do say so myself.    It’s really interesting that her finger nails grow so fast but her toe nails don’t.

It’s just me and the baby today.  The house is really quiet.  We miss everyone!!

For the last two weeks we’ve had lots of fun with all our visitors.

On Memorial Day weekend we had a yummy lunch with the fam.  Yummy chicken and rice!  Thanks Ah Noi!  And then yesterday we were off to a bbq with the dinner club crew.  We hadn’t seen them in so long!  Here’s a pic of Branden and Katie.  Future boyfriend?

So far Katie has been pretty regular with her poops but yesterday she didn’t poop at all.  Pish and I were a little worried because she was going on 36 hours without pooping.  Then suddenly while at Sherri’s house we got the motherload!  I have never seen so much poop in one little diaper.  Pish and I were SO happy!    I know you are all expecting a picture of this poop but I forgot to take picture!  darn!  Don’t be sad.  I’ll take a picture of the next good one.  hehe 

I lost a couple more pounds in the past two weeks and I can wear my wedding ring again!  I just have to be careful not to scratch the baby with it. 

But….I’m not brave enough to try on my pre-pregnancy jeans yet.  I’m going to give it one more week before I try on my old pants.  Don’t want to set myself up for failure. 

After 11 years together, I have parted ways with Bobo and Loco (my two red-eared turtles).  We’ve been trying to give them away for a while now but no one wanted them.  Finally we had a taker!  Norma from Pish’s office came by yesterday to pick them up for her son.  Now that they are gone, I’m actually kind of sad.  Back in 1996 I bought both them for $10 in Chinatown.  At the time, they were each only the size if a silver dollar.  Now they are all growns up and moving on in the world.  Good luck out there turtles!!

Last night Pish was on night duty and I had set my alarm to wake up twice to pump.  So at 10pm I went to sleep and the next thing I knew it was 5am!  I had slept 7 hours straight!  It’s been so long since I’ve done that.  My breasts felt like they were about to explode from all the milk in there but it actually felt good to sleep so long. 

7 hours is the longest I’ve gone without seeing Katie.  I missed her but didn’t want to go in the room to wake up her and Pish.  So I turned on our video monitor and starred at her for a little while.  What a cutie!

Last week I was worried about not producing enough milk for the baby.  So on top of feeding, I started pumping too to start freezing some.  Now this week I learn that I can produce too much milk.  It’s called hyperlactation or an overactive let-down.  I learned about it from Regina and started reading up on it.  I think that’s what is happening right now.  All the symptoms they list, I have.  Plus Katie has been a bit fussier and it think it is due to this.  I’ve said many times that nature is pretty amazing but does it have to be so complicated???

So yesterday I stopped pumping to see if it helps.  Instead of Katie being wide awake from 3-5am, last night was only 4-5am.  Some improvement!
