A friend recommended this baby monitor to us and I love it! It’s a color video monitor that allows us to see and hear Katie when she’s in her crib. Pish didn’t think it was necessary at first but now he sees how cool it is. It’s a bit pricey but I would definitely recommend it to all new parents out there.

If you saw some kids shoplifting what would you do?
This weekend I was in a clothing store and I saw two teenage girls whispering. I’m pretty sure one girl pulled the tags off a bathing suit and put it in her bag. I looked around for some store employees so I could tell them but no one was around. I looked at the girls again as they were walking away and they were high-fiving each other. There were still no store employees around! I stood there and did nothing. A couple minutes later I felt guilty so I walked to the front of the store to look for the girls but they were already gone.
I still feel guilty now. Should I have stopped them myself? Should I have run to find an employee? I’m so mad at myself for letting them get away with it. Now they are going to go to other shops and just keep doing it….

This past weekend, I had a very embarassing new mommy/breast milk moment….
After a yummy lunch at A&J, Pish was on baby duty at home and Debbie Yeh and I went shopping. I was able to find a bunch of good stuff. But after a couple hours, I was in a dressing room about to try on some clothes when I noticed a wet spot on my shirt. Was it sweat? Couldn’t be because I don’t sweat that much. Then I touched my bra and it was soaked! My breast milk leaked and had overflowed the nursing pad! What was I going to do?? I couldn’t walk around with a huge wet spot on my shirt. So embarassing!
I had to think fast. So I pulled out a shirt I had bought at another store, ripped the tag off and put that on. When I walked outside Debbie looked confused and said, “Were you wearing that earlier?” haha..I told her about my leakage problem and suggested that we head home soon. Sorry we had to cut short our shopping trip Deb!
Lesson learned…always carry extra nursing pads and check on them once in a while.

Saturday was Sydnie’s coming out party. We went up to the valley for some good food and some good company. It was great seeing everyone! Plus Sydnie and Katie got to finally meet. They had talked a while back when Katie was still in the womb.
We had a lot of fun and I was very happy because it was the first day I dared to try on my old jeans and they fit! woo hoo!!

This morning we went out for some exercise. I got to run around the track while Pish carried Katie in the Baby Bjorn carrier. Who knew that this carrier was such a chick magnet?? Last week at the mall and this morning, Pish had women coming up to him all the time! They all told him out cute Katie was and started talking to him. If any of our single guy friends want to borrow Katie and the Baby Bjorn, feel free! It’s a great way to meet women.

A friend recommended a book called Babywise that provides a method to get your baby sleeping through the night before the age of 8 weeks. Pish and I both read the book and yesterday, Katie and I tried to get onto a schedule. The method is to not allow the baby to eat and then sleep right away. At Katie’s age we are on a 3 hour cycle. First is feeding time, playtime, and then nap time. This continues every 3 hours except for the last feeding where we skip play time and go right to bedtime.
For the first day, Katie did pretty well. She fussed a little when it was naptime but I let her cry it out a little. It’s hard to hear her cry but I know she will eventually stop and fall asleep. Then last night she slept a 5 hour stretch and a 4 hour stretch! That’s way better than the usual 2-3 hour feedings at night. Hopefully we’ll finally get more sleep at nights.
