6 months
Posted in Katie on 10/30/2007 06:40 am by debbie_kaKatie is now 6 months old and we had her doctor appointment last friday. We tried out a new pediatrician and he seems really nice. He did his examination and said everything looked great. Right when he saw Katie’s thighs, he commented, ”She is definitely one well nourished baby”. hehe…gotta love the chubby thighs!
This weekend we also tried feeding Katie vegatables for the first time. We discovered that she does not like green beans.
Later I tried to mix it in some rice cereal but she still wasn’t liking it too much. We’ll have to keep trying. I heard her poop is supposed to smell more now that she’s eating real food and last night we got a stinky one! I guess I should be happy she has a good digestive system but we just have to learn to breathe out of our mouths when changing diapers.

Weekend
Posted in Misc on 10/29/2007 10:20 am by debbie_kaWe had a busy weekend that involved a lot of food. Dinner club this month was brunch at Sherri’s house. She had belgian waffles, eggs, sausages, potatoes, and yummy quiche. It was fun seeing all the kids together. Too bad Pish couldn’t make it though. He’s had a bad sore throat the past couple of days and didn’t want to get the kids sick.
Later that night we headed up the LA for Debbie Yeh’s birthday. We had yummy Korean bbq and then went to a lounge afterwards. We left Katie at my mom’s house so Pish and I got a night out. It was fun.
Yesterday, my parents had a party to show off their newly remodeled house and some of their friends wanted to meet Katie. My cousin Sing bbq-ed up some steak, lamb chops and king crab legs. Everything was really tasty.
Stayed tuned for some pictures. I’ll try to post them soon…..
Fire update
Posted in Misc on 10/25/2007 01:38 pm by debbie_kaMy brother and family were able to go back home last night. Their house is no longer in danger. phew! My brother is back to work but the kids are at home with Liz. School won’t be back in session until next Wed. It’s like summer vacation but too bad they can’t go out and play. The air quality is still pretty bad.
Even at my work, I can smell the smoke and there are ashes all over the cars in the parking lot. I hope the fires are put out soon and I hope they catch the arsonist who started Irvine fires.

Posted in Misc on 10/23/2007 07:16 pm by debbie_kaMy brother headed home this morning but before he got there he got a call telling him a new fire had started up and that it was still not safe to go home yet. So tonight they are staying with some other friends in a safe area of San Diego and they will see how things are tomorrow. Take a look at what Ryan wrote yesterday.

Go Bruins!
Posted in Misc on 10/23/2007 08:39 am by debbie_kaLast Saturday we took Katie to her first UCLA event and she did really well. After her 5am feeding, we started our drive to the Rosebowl and got there even before the gates were opened. We were just in time to meet up with Jorell and his crew to drive in together and get a really good spot. After hours of good food and good fun, we headed into the sold out game. It was really hot that day and I didn’t want Katie nor I to get sunburnt so I ended up sitting in the shade with her and all the other mommies and babies. We listened to the game from just outside the tunnel and it was a great game! We defeated the ranked Cal bears in the last minute of the game. woo hoo!

HERE is some of ours but we didn’t take too many.
Fires
Posted in Misc on 10/23/2007 06:16 am by debbie_kaThe Irvine fires aren’t that close to us but we can definitely smell the smoke. Yesterday morning I drove through thick black smoke to get to work too. While heading into work, I got a call from my brother saying they were heading up to OC because they had to evacuate their house in San Diego. They had been up all morning and finally got the word to evacuate. Scary!! It got me thinking so I turned around, headed home and grabbed some of our important documents and computers just in case any fires started in our area.
At around 2pm, we had a power outage at work. For about 20 minutes we all sat around and then the power came back on. Darn! We didn’t leave fast enough. Well, the power was up but there was no internet access so they sent us all home. So I went to hang out with my bro and family at my mom’s house. By late afternoon my brother got word that the Coronado Hills fire (the one closest to their house) was 100% contained. phew! The air quality was probably still pretty bad so they slept at our house last night and will be heading home today. We are so happy their house is ok.
We love you!
Posted in Misc on 10/18/2007 07:56 pm by debbie_kaWe don’t know what we’d do without my parents. They have been awesome with helping us during the week. They watch Katie, shop for us and feed us breakfast, lunch and dinner! Thanks so much. We love you!
Here’s a video of Katie having a conversation with grandpa.
