All done?

January 30th, 2008

I thought I was going to stop breastfeeding in December but I felt bad stopping because I was too lazy to pump.  Currently my schedule is:  breastfeed in the morning, pump once at work, and then pump once at night.  Well, this week, I am getting significantly less milk.  Sometimes getting only 1-2 ounces from each side makes it almost not worth it to pump.

So today (Katie’s 9 month birthday!) I’ve decided to stop.  Well, either wheen or stop completely.  Not sure how to do it.  Any other mommies out there have tips on how to stop?  Should I start pumping less once a day gradually or just stop cold turkey?

No dentures needed

January 28th, 2008

I think babies are supposed to get their first teeth around 4-7 months of age.  Our little Katie is almost 9 months and nothing!  Pish was ready to start making dentures for her.  Until tonight!!  We finally feel two little teeth starting to poke through her lower gums.  Look Katie is already learning to brush them!

Her hair is extra fluffy after a bath.  Isn’t it cute?

Weekend

January 28th, 2008

This past weekend we went to Northern California.  Our flights were delayed both ways because of all the rain but luckily the planes weren’t full so we were able to bring Katie’s carseat on board and she slept most of the way.

Pish’s parents were VERY excited to see Katie this weekend.  They both took the day off and we hung out all day Friday.  Later that night we headed to oakland for dinner at Le Cheval.  I used to love eating there but I was a little disappointed this time.  It wasn’t as good as I remembered.  It was fun meeting up with friends though.  We saw some of pish’s dental school friends and I got to see the Evans.

On Saturday, Katie and I headed out to Diana’s baby shower.  We had lots of fun catching up with the girls and I finally got to see Diana pregnant.  She says she feels huge but she’s still tiny!

Later that night we hung out with the family and ate some yummy sushi.  We also had some competitive game playing which included:  Bubble Bobble, Scrabble and we taught the grandparents how to play Taboo.  I think they had lots of fun.

Upromise

January 24th, 2008

I recently learned about a website called Upromise.  This free program earns members rebates on purchases of select brands at participating retail stores and services. The rebates can be applied toward education savings accounts or directly to student loans.

All you have to do is register for an account.  Then register your rewards cards (ie. Ralphs, albertsons, cvs, etc) and when you buy qualifying items, you will automatically earn money for your child.  There are many other ways to earn money but this is the most brainless one.  Since I’m a big fan of CVS now, I registered my card at upromise.  I recently bought two cans of Enfamil formula and have already earned $0.56 towards Katie’s future college fund!

College tuitions have increased on average by 76 percent at public four-year institutions over the last decade. Private four-year institutions have seen an average increase of 62 percent.  Can you imagine what tuition will be like when Katie goes to college in the year 2025???

So check out Upromise for your kids or feel free to register for an account to earn Katie some money!  :)  Click HERE.

Upromise is also currently giving away $25,000.  You just need to create a personal video telling them why your child deserves it.  I’m thinking of submitting Katie’s laughing videos.  It doesn’t really show why she deserves it, but it’s just so darn cute.  :)

Action

January 22nd, 2008

I’ve been talking about starting my own business for a LONG time.  I’d like to get out of my little cubicle world and be my own boss.  While I was pregnant, I realized there was too much talk and no action!  So I started researching.  I really wanted to do a community website for expecting parents and I wanted to start an online store for selling baby blankets and burp cloths.

A while back I started working with some friends on the community site and that is still in the works.  Action…Action…Action!  I have to keep reminding myself.  So I finally got off my butt and am making some progress.  My samples are currently being created, the website is being designed, and we have a logo.  If anyone needs some cute baby gifts, let me know!  I’m going to start the store with baby blankets, receiving blankets, and burp cloths.  I’m also in the process of working with a designer to design some unique onesies.  So keep an eye out for Cupcake Cuddles.  I’ll let you know when my online store is ready!

Smashed Pickle

January 22nd, 2008

When I pick up Katie from my mom’s house, I always get an update for the day. The main points are usually: did she eat? did she nap? and most importantly…..did she poop? :) When Katie was younger it was mostly wet explosions but now, since she’s eating solids and drinking some formula, she’s more constipated. My mom is pretty creative with her poop names. Mix and match the names and adjectives below to get a good description.

Names: olives, meatball, pancake, finger, pickle

Adjectives: small, big, green, flat, smashed

Yesterday Katie had a smashed pickle. What did YOU have today? hehe :)

In other poop news, my dad finally installed his Japanese Toto toilet seat.  This is the mother of all seats!  It has a heated seat, adjustable spraying, dryer and much more.  I tried it out yesterday and could not stop laughing.  The spray takes some getting used to.  Next time you are at my parent’s house be sure to try it out!

Here’s some specs on it:

Jam-packed Weekend

January 21st, 2008

We had a lot going on this past weekend.  On Friday, we finally visited Binh’s place.  Lanh cooked up a yummy dinner and we watched the Warriors game.  On Saturday, we headed out to San Gabriel for Steve Yang’s wedding.  Thanks to my mom and dad for babysitting Katie.  The wedding was really nice and Pish had a great time seeing all his high school friends again.

On Sunday, I drove back up to LA again for Nadine’s bridal shower.  The food was yummy and it was fun catching up with all the girls.  The games were fun too.  My table dominated!

Then later that night we had dinner at Sam Woo’s for Ethan’s 1 month old party.  He’s such a cutie!  I was amazed to feel what it’s like to hold an 8 lb baby again.  He was so little and I already can’t even remember when Katie was that little.  I forgot to take pictures so I’ll have get some from Sing and I’ll post them later.
