So I’ve been working on getting my business started. There are lots of things to do and I have already run into issues that have caused a slow start. I was working with a flaky website designer so I had to find a new one and start the whole process again. Then there will issues with the label I’m printing for my blankets. That was finally resolved and I should receive them next week. A couple good things are happening though. I’m learning A LOT and I found some new cute fabric for my next set of blankets. Stay tuned for more updates.

Every kid goes through a phase where they are attached to their parents. My niece Kennan is in that stage right now. Last friday, we babysat Ryan and Kennan while my bro and Liz went to a show. They are pretty easy to take care of because they listen to you and play on their own. But when it was time to go to bed, Kennan kept asking for mommy. I told her they’d be home soon but she was unconsolable. Then Ryan, came over and put his arm around Kennan and was able to calm her. He even decided to go to bed himself so that Kennan would too. He is so good at taking care of his little sister. So I turned off the lights and left the room. In the dark, I heard them having this conversation. Not sure if it’s as cute typed out but when I was listening outside the door, it was the cutest thing ever!
Ryan: Hey Kennan, let’s do some math.
Kennan: What?
Ryan: Say 4 times 5 equals 20.
Kennan: 4 time what?
Ryan: If you say this to mommy she will think you are really smart. If you want, I can remind you tomorrow.
Kennan: Are you smart, Ryan?
Ryan: No, I’m in second grade. I’m supposed to know that. You are in preschool so if you say it, she’ll think you are really really smart.
Kennan: 4 time what?
Ryan: Say 4 times 5 equal 20
Kennan: 4 time 5 is 20?
Ryan: no….eeeequals. but i guess “is” works too. Ok. Say 4 times 5 is 20
Kennan: 4 …… times ……. 5 …… is …..20.
Ryan: good! You say it to mommy tomorrow and she’ll think you are smart.
Aren’t they cute??? :) I’ll babysit them anytime!

Bowels movements are fact of daily life that most people do not like to talk about. However, the Ka family is not too shy. Katie’s bowels are a pretty interesting topic and we are going to talk about it! :) She is going to love reading these blogs when she’s older. haha.
Katie has been eating more solids and now more table food. She loves it and has started to reject some baby foods. So far, we have noticed that more solid foods means more solid bowels. The poor kid has been a bit constipated. She’ll push and push until her face turns bright red. This past weekend we had and experience that I have to share. :) While eating lunch, we could see Katie pushing really hard. I gave her some time and went to change her diaper. When I opened it up and lifted up her legs, there was nothing. weird…then she started crying and pushing again. As this happened, two big hard lumps started squirting out! Lucky I had a free had to grab the diaper to catch it. Aunty Ishya watched the whole thing and was quite shocked. I think she saw a lot more than she wanted to.
In other Katie news, her eyebrow is healing quite nicely after her fight with the coffee table. Here’s a close up and you can see there is barely any mark left on her left eyebrow. I love this pic of Kennan too.

I’ve been into cupcakes lately so I decided to bake for this Valentine holiday! I attempted to make my favorite flavor - Red Velvet. I think they look nice but the cake part came out just ok (it tasted a bit flour-y). So….I have come to terms with the fact that I really am not a “make from scratch” kind of person. I just don’t do it enough to be good at it. However, I did mix up a mean batch of cream cheese frosting! Pish and I couldn’t stop eating that. :) I think from now on I’ll stick to the box cake mixes to ensure tasty cakes.
Happy Valentine’s day everyone! Have a great cupcake day!

Look! A coffee table jumped out and hit Katie in the head! well….actually we were playing, when she fell forward and hit her head on the coffee table. She hit the bone right on her eyebrow and it split the skin causing it to bleed. When I was a kid, I hit my eyebrow on this same coffee table and have a scar to show for it. BAD coffee table! BAD!

Luckily she only cried for a short while and was back to playing right away. Looks like I’m raising a tough little girl. If she wasn’t tough already she will be after I’m done with her.
