Our normal Katie is back! She’s over her sickness and was more normal yesterday. Less clingy, less whining and played by herself. yay!
So who knew Katie would like Dancing with the Stars? Whenever she sees dancing or hears music, she wants to dance herself. Check out our future dancing machine!
I didn’t take many pics this weekend but here are some I took on the last day. The flight home was empty so Katie got her own seat. She was very interested in learning the safety procedures of the flight.
And here we are getting some shut eye….
It was nice to see the family this past weekend. We miss you guys already!
We’ve been putting Katie through a lot lately. We got back from Hawaii on Sunday night, she started having a runny nose on Wednesday, then a fever on Thursday afternoon, and then we left for San Jose that night. She was NOT happy. I was able to get her to sleep for the first 30 minutes of our flight but she screamed for about 45 minutes after that. It was not just a cry…it was a SCREAM. We think her ears were hurting because of her congestion but she refused to drink from the bottle so we could not help her. Everyone on the plane was really nice about it but I felt really bad. She did great on our 5 hours flight to and from Hawaii but this one hour flight was horrendous.
Katie’s fever continued on friday and saturday morning but then she started to feel and look better. Too bad she had to be sick while visiting her grandparents. It took her some time to warm up to Billy and Ishya too but she eventually did. We had a yummy bbq on saturday and got to hang out with Nina and Jessie too.
So since, Katie has learned to scream, she’s using it a lot more now. It was like she grew up really fast this weekend and knows exactly what she wants now. If she doesn’t get it, she whines and screams. We are trying to nip it in the bud and are starting to discipline her. I know it has to be done but it is so hard to hear her cry. There was one time where Pish was trying to talk to her but she kept screaming. We had to let her cry it out but hearing it made me want to cry too. Pish had to take her out of the room.
Since she has been spending so much time with me, she has grown VERY attached and wants me to carry her all the time. So I’ve been trying to break that habit the past couple of days. She’s whining a lot but I think she’s learning.
We flew back on Sunday night and had a rest day on monday. We all needed the rest. Hopefully Katie will get back into her normal routine and will be back to her normal self soon.
Now that Katie has turned 1 yr old, she seems to be growing up so fast. Here’s some updates.
1. We transistioned her to whole milk last week. (She didn’t even know the difference.)
2. She is forward facing in her carseat.
3. She now prefers table food over baby food.
4. She doesn’t want to nap as much as before.
5. When you ask her how old she is, she’ll use her finger to say ONE!
6. When you ask her where her nose is, she’ll point to it.
7. When you ask her what sound a lion makes, she will ROAR.
8. She has been leaking out of the size 3 diapers. Time to move to size 4?
9. Her hair is finally starting to stay down a little.
10. She has learned to go down stairs. First she looks over the edge. Then she lays down on her stomach and uses her foot to find the edge, and starts sliding down. Here’s a video. I missed part of the beginning though.
Congratulations to Nadine and Yohan who got married this weekend! The wedding was in Palos Verdes at La Venta. Such a beautiful site and the view was amazing!
This was Katie’s first time attending a wedding. Our plan was to have her nap the whole drive up and be well rested. Well, things never go as planned. She cried almost the whole drive (1 hr, 15 minutes) but fell asleep when we were less than 10 minutes away. argh! So pish stayed with her in the car and she got about a 30 minute nap. They made it in time to watch the ceremony and then we were ready to party!
We were so proud of Katie that night. She was on her best behavior and lasted until we left at 9:45pm! She loved seeing all the people. Also, she had her first fancy meal! After eating her baby food, she wanted more so I shared my delicious dinner with her. Lobster soup, chilean seabass, and filet mignon! yum yum. All that food made for some really hard poop the next morning though. I guess Katie is still getting used to table food.
I didn’t take that many pics since we were busy with Katie, but here’s the ones I did take. Click HERE.
