Governor unveils “School Finder” website

“The new “School Finder” website (www.SchoolFinder.ca.gov), unveiled by the Governor last week, provides Academic Performance Index (API) scores, student-per-teacher ratios, and graduation rates. Data comes directly from the school districts to the state so the information is reliable and accurate. “School Finder” provides data on schools in every region of California , from elementary to high school. This includes traditional schools, alternative and adult education schools, as well as charter schools. Schools can literally be compared side-by-side. The information of up to three schools can be viewed one next to another for an easy comparison of the merits of each.”

Looks like the Irvine schools are pretty good.  Now I just need to convince Pish to move there soon!

We missed dada…

Pish got home late last night.  We really missed him.  Katie would often call for dada and even jumped up once when she thought she heard the garage door opening.  It was cute but I had to explain that dada was on vacation.  We had a fun weekend though.  Playdates on Friday, super fancy birthday party on saturday and shopping on sunday.  It was a bit tiring watching her alone for 3 days but I managed.  The hardest part was brushing her teeth.  She likes to brush herself but puts up a good fight when we try to brush for her.  Usually one of us needs to hold her down while the other brushes.  That was hard to do by myself.

Even though my surprise was ruined…it sounds like Pish had a great weekend.  The original plan was for him to think Randy was coming down here.  Then instead of picking up Randy at the airport, I’d have Pish’s bags and golf clubs packed and would send him off.  Well….a big mouth slipped and said, “Have fun golfing in Lake Tahoe for your birthday.” ahhh!!!  So for a couple weeks, Randy and I had to make up a bunch of stories to cover it up.  Pish knew something was up and was a brat about it but he never really knew what the exact plans were.  They ended up golfing in napa and then headed to Lake Tahoe for a couple days.  His five friends are calling it a bromance weekend.  awww…

So we have never used a babysitter before (besides my mom).  Last night Pish’s flight came in late so I had to either bring Katie with me or he had to take a cab home.  I decided to try out our neighbor (22 yr old girl).  I know her dad pretty well, so I went over to ask if she was available.  She wasn’t.  :(   But the dad offered to come over for free!  Katie would be sleeping already anyways and we just needed someone to be home.  So he came over with a book and I was gone for only 1 hour.  I had told another friend about our babysitter and their reaction was, “You are letting a single man babysit?”  I guess it doesn’t sound so good if you put it that way but we know him and he has two daughters himself.  Well, it worked out just fine.  THANKS Mark!!

Here’s some pics from the weekend.

Playdate with Bella.  Katie insisted on drinking from Bella’s cup so Bella started drinking from Katie’s sippy.  Sorry Katie is such a bully!
