I got a nice surprise at work today. My boss looked very serious and called me into his office. After shutting the door, he said he had a letter from HR for me. Was I being laid off??? Luckily No! I got a promotion! Actually, I’m not really sure it’s a promotion because they just added “Expert” at the end of my title. hehe. But the important part is that is came with a small raise. What a great surprise! woo hoo!
Happy Birthday to Sha Sha (that’s what Katie calls Tisha )! We celebrated with her yesterday in Culver City. I was surprised how happening downtown Culver City is and Rush Street (the restaurant/bar we went to) was really nice.

I’ve never thought of myself as skinny but not fat either. I did gain 15 pounds my freshman year but who was counting? I guess eating Ben and Jerry’s Cherry Garcia, 100 grand bars and drinking at least two cans of Pepsi a day will do that you. :) I was still active so I never thought anything of it.
Well, after gaining 32 pounds during pregnancy, I was lucky and it was really easy to lose the weight. Breastfeeding does wonders! I even lost 5 more pounds than I started. (Somehow I’ve gained 4 back already though). Since then, I joined Facebook and have reconnected with many old college friends. All of them are saying I look great. Really? Me? I thought they were all just being nice but later I realized they really meant, “You lost a lot of weight.” I figured it out when I was in Maui. Leon’s mom (whom I hadn’t seen college) said, “Debbie! You lost a lot of weight! You used to be so ROUND.” I love how Cantonese people are so brutally honest.
So I guess I was fat in college but no one told me! I dug up this old fat face picture. If I start to look fat again, someone please tell me!
Katie is growing up fast and has a lot of words in her vocabulary now. One of her favorites lately is “No”. It’s a nice No though. She doesn’t yell “No!” like I’ve seen some other kids. She sweetly says, “no….” and sometimes even tilts her head to the side. It’s so cute!
My mom recently started a Parent & Me class with Katie. They play games and sing songs with other kids and parents. Last week, the teacher told everyone to start cleaning up and Katie said, “no….”
Here’s a conversation I’ve had with Katie after we played outside:
me: Katie, do you want to go inside?
Katie: no….
me: Can we take your shoes off?
Katie: no….
me: Let’s go wash your hands.
Katie: no….
me: Do you ever say yes?
Katie: silence
I’m behind on posting but here’s a few pics from Katie’s 1st Disneyland trip last weekend. My company had an Employee Appreciation day and we got tickets for $20 each, free parking and $10 food voucher to use in the park. Katie had a great time. We rode on some rides but her favorite was the parade. She waved at every character that walked past us.
