dad: she just made me a big sausage.

Ka family translation….Katie just had a big poop.

Schedule update

October 29th, 2008

So the one nap a day thing hasn’t been working too well. Katie was whiny and for some reason, she was sleeping less at night! We tried putting her to bed earlier…nope..then we tried putting her to sleep later..nope. She’d still wake up in the 4 o’clock hour. So this past weekend we put her back on two naps. I think she’s happier and she’s getting up closer to 6am (that’s normal for her). I guess we’ll deal with one nap a day once she starts school. No need to rush it.

Also, since she’s been whinier and a bit clingy to me, she’d cry when I would put her down to sleep. So Pish started putting her down and she has not cried at all. Parenting is full of trials and errors…

Weekend

October 27th, 2008

I love it when people get married in Orange County! Much closer for us! :) This past Saturday we went to Ameet & Manasee’s wedding in Dana Point. There was a beautiful Hindu ceremony followed by a yummy cocktail hour and delicious Indian food for dinner. One thing I learned that night is that Indian people know how to party! Everyone was on the dance floor after dinner (from little kids, to adults and even the grandparents!). Congrats to the newlyweds! Also, thanks to my in-laws who were visiting this weekend and babysat for us.

Then on Sunday we went to the Tanaka Farms pumpkin patch. Katie had a lot of fun!

Portraits

October 24th, 2008

Pish and I have been wanting to take family portraits for a while now but have never gotten around to it. We are lucky to have a photographer in the family who just set up a photo studio in his house! So we’ll be taking some soon but in the meantime, check out the cute pics he took of Katie. Thanks Sing!!

Tired…

October 23rd, 2008

Katie’s new nap schedule is throwing us all off. You would think that if she sleep less in the day, she’ll sleep more at night but it’s been the opposite. This week she’s been waking us up between 4-4:45am. I even tried to put her to sleep later (at 9pm) last night but she still woke up at 5am today (better, but still not good enough). Trial and error… but I hope she starts to sleep in more.

New schedule

October 21st, 2008

Katie will be starting school this coming January. I’m worried she’s going to get sick alot since it will be winter and there are so many germs at school but oh well…she’ll have to build up her immune system. I am excited that she’s going to interact with more kids though. It will be a fun experience for her.

So once she starts school, she’ll be on a new schedule. They only take one nap a day.

8:30am - Class starts
9:30am - Snack
12pm - Lunch
1-2:30pm - Nap
3pm - Playtime

Since Katie is still taking two naps right now, we decided to transition her to one nap so that she’ll get used to it. We started on Saturday and it wasn’t too bad. She didn’t get cranky at all. Well, maybe a little whiny in the afternoon and a bit clingy to me. Also, all of a sudden she does not want to get in her crib at night. Usually I just take her up, rock her for about a minute and down she goes. But since this new schedule change, she screams when we put her in the crib (the heart-wrenching kind of scream). Pish is a strong believer in the “cry it out” method. I agree with it too but it’s SOOO hard. One night, I almost started crying myself (I’ve become such a softie!).

I hope she starts to get used to this schedule soon. I hate hearing her cry.
