Katie looked a bit tired when I got home from work but pish said she took a good nap today so I didn’t think much of it.  Plus she was playing and laughing as usual.  Later she started saying owwie and pointing to her ear.   After a couple more complaints I decided to call the after hours doctor.  The nurse told me to bring her in.  She said ear infections can escalate very quickly so it was better to have the doctor look at it while they were still in the office or else it could get worse in the middle of the night and we’d have to go to the emergency room.   We weren’t taking any chances so we headed in to the office.

When we got there, they took her temp and she had a slight fever. 100.6. Oops!  Should I have known she had a fever??

The doctor looked in her ear but there was a bunch of ear wax in the way.  So they had to irrigate it to flush it all out.  It took a lot of flushes.  She did really well, didn’t move at all and didn’t whine.  Finally the doc could see her eardrum and she had an ear infection.  She prescribed amoxicillan and some Motrin for the fever.  Poor Katie…
