Weekend

We had a fun weekend!  Pish was busy up north at a bachelor party so Katie and I stayed home and played with our visitors…Auntie Giftay and Uncle Billy! (Plus Auntie Debbie for one night).  Our weekend consisted of shopping, movies, ice cream, walks at the beach, yummy sushi and much more!  I also attended a friend’s wedding on Saturday night.  A big thank you to Ishya and Billy for taking night duty.  I didn’t take many pics this weekend but see below for some video that Billy took of Katie.

Surprise!

Katie and Pish received a surprise this morning.  Billy and Ishya drove down a day early and were already here when Pish and Katie woke up! Luckily, Pish didn’t hear them sneak in last night.  Katie was so excited to see them.

So Katie has a fun day at home with them today and a fun-filled weekend to come!

Fever :(

Katie had a random fever (100.4) and vomited at my mom’s house on monday afternoon.  My dad lectured me about taking her to public places (disneyland).  I guess swine flu is still out there but I hadn’t thought about it.

So we kept her home from school yesterday and all day she had a temperature of 99.6.  She was acting totally normal though.  Last night and this morning, she had a normal temperature so we sent her to school.  Don’t know what caused it but it’s good she’s not acting sick.

Disneyland Day

Debbie, Jos and I took Katie to Disneyland on Saturday and it was fun!  On Friday, Debbie had asked how long I thought Katie would last.  I really had no clue.  Who knows if she would nap and who knows if she would get grouchy?  Well…she only napped for 30 minutes in the stroller but still did great.  No whining all day.  woo hoo!

People had scared me because Saturdays were supposed to be CROWDED and it was supposed to be hot.  Well, both were not too bad.  The Fast Pass helped a lot and the kid rides did not have long lines.  Also, thanks to super Auntie Debbie for researching “How to handle a toddler at Disneyland”!  She found some great tips that really helped.  One was the Rider Switch program (I had never heard of it).  It allows parents to switch off and still get to ride on the rides.  Here’s an example of how it works.  We got a Fast Pass for Space Mountain and returned at the specified time.  At the Fast Pass entrance, I asked for a Rider Switch pass.  Jos and Debbie went on the ride and I waited at the exit.  When they came out, Jos stayed with Katie and Debbie and I went in the exit and right up the ride.  No lines!  awesome.

Here’s the list of rides we went on:
Got the Fast Pass for Space Mountain (should return after 12:30pm)
Buzz Lightyear
Dumbo
Merry Go Round
Early lunch (wanted Katie to nap but she got a 2nd wind)
Circus train
Storybook Boat ride
Katie fell asleep
Space Mountain
Katie woke up
Jungle Cruise
Got Fast Pass for Indiana Jones (should return after 3:30pm)
Pirates of the Caribbean
Pooh ride
It’s a small world (Katie LOVED this ride)
Celebrate Parade
Toon Town
Train ride
Indiana Jones
Dinner (Yummy pasta!)
We attempted the line for the Nemo submarine but the wait was 45 minutes and after 5 minutes, we knew Katie would not last.
Alice in Wonderland
Left the park at 7:45pm. phew!

We had 2fer tickets which means you get two parks for the price of one.  So we have to go to California Adventure within 30 days.  Anyone want to join us???

Earthquake!

I’m usually not too scared of earthquakes but last night I freaked out a little more than usual.  I was worried about Katie.  If it was “the big one”, what would we do?  Wake her up and then what?  Do we go outside?  Do we just stand under the doorway?  Do I grab her a change of clothes and some extra diapers?  A lot was going through my head at the time.  Luckily, it was short and everything was back to normal but it was scary at the time.

Disneyland anyone?

Debbie, Jos and I are planning on taking Katie to the “Happiest Place on Earth” on Saturday.  Anyone interested in joining?  Let me know!

2 yr Check up

Katie had her 2 year doctor appointment last week.  She really likes her doctor so it was an easy visit.  She only had one shot this time and didn’t cry.  She was more interested in the Tweety bird band aid.  The doctor was surprised how much she was talking and asked us if she really was only 2 yrs old.  :)   He said everything looked healthy and he also mentioned we can switch from whole milk to 2% milk now.

Here are her stats:

Weight:  25.5 lbs          35%

Height:  35 in                 80%

Head Circ:  19 in           75%

Looks like she’s on the taller side compared to other kids her age but is lower in weight.  That might be changing soon though.  For the past week and a half, she has been eating A LOT.  She never asked for food before but now she asks for food all day and has been eating way more at meals.  I’m guessing it is a growth spurt or her stomach just grew bigger when she hit 2 years old.

Kennan weekend

We had a treat this weekend with Kennan visiting us!  Liz dropped her off on Friday afternoon and the fun began.  Katie and her played all afternoon and the next morning.  They are so cute together.

Then on Saturday afternoon, we went to Baby Loves Disco with my mom.  This event takes place at an actual night club and they have a live DJ spinning disco music.  They had snacks and juice boxes for the kids and lots of activities but the dancing was the highlight.  We all had so much fun!  Everyone danced and Kennan got her face painted.  The lady did such a good job in the dark club.  It looked great!

Rest in peace

Mr. Yale Goldfish

Yale, was laid to rest in Aliso Viejo on May 7, 2009.  His birthdate is unknown and was adopted by our family on May 3, 2009.

Yale was loved by Katie and he loved her back.  He often swam in circles with excitement and always looked happy.  In his final days, he did not each much and passed away peacefully.  Yale is survived by his fishy friend Mr. Harvard Goldfish.

Rest in peace, our beloved Yale.
