So you think you can dance?

This guy can!!  I wonder how much he practiced to get it so exact!

It’s 6!!

One of the most genius things that Pish taught Katie was how to read the digital clock in her room.  He covered the last two digits so that she could only see the first digit and he told her that she shouldn’t wake up in the mornings until the clock says 6.

A little while ago, Katie always woke up before 6am.  Sometimes at 4:45am, sometimes 5:30 but always before 6.  This got pretty tiring so Pish worked on teaching Katie to look at the clock.  If it doesn’t say 6 then she is supposed to go back to sleep.  Slowly Katie got the hang of it and finally when she woke up in the mornings, we would hear this, “Daddy, It’s 6!!”  I am amazed it really worked but now Katie actually sleeps in until 6:30 and this past weekend we even got to 6:45!  That extra sleep is nice for us.

Yesterday Katie told Pish that she woke up and the clock said 5 so she went back to sleep.  :)

Run

Ishya has motivated me to sign up for a 5k run.  I need to get in shape and that’s a good goal to train for.  Anyone have any ideas on where I start looking for races in my area?

New Katie sayings

Here’s some new things Katie has been saying.

- oh MY gosh!
- Nevermind…
- I like that. That’s cute.
- Daddy, no feet on the chairs.  Feets on the ground.
- June, July, August.  I discovered that she knows all her months.  I heard her saying this so I said, “Do you know your months?”.  She said yes.  I said January and she said, “February, March, ……August, Tember, Tober, Nember, December.  I know my months mommy.”  I was surprised.  I guess she really is learning stuff at school.

She also loves to pretend to be a cat.  She crawls around the floor saying MEOW and will lay in my lap so that I will scratch her back.

Potty training is still going well.  No accidents since last Wednesday.  We’ll see how she does at school today.  Cross your fingers!

Prioritize

I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed lately.  I feel like I have so much I want/need to do but I don’t have the motivation to get it all done.  Here’s a little motivation quote I read online today.

“You can have anything you want, but you can’t have everything you want.  Prioritize.  Then take your top priorities and strive for excellence.  The rest will fall into place.”

Black eye pic

I finally took a picture of Katie’s face but it looks a lot better now.  It was 10 times more swollen on her eyelid and on her cheek below her eye.  The swelling is almost all gone but the bruising is showing more now.  Today, Pish was  too scared to take Katie in public because he doesn’t want people to think we have such an abusive bathtub.

Awesome entrance

I’m stealing another video from bumble ink’s blog.  This wedding entrance (at the ceremony) is the best I’ve ever seen!  I wish I had thought of it first but not sure if Pish would have agreed to it.  I picture this kind of thing happening at Prudence’s wedding.

Fight!!

Katie got in a fight with the bathtub last night and I think the bathtub won.   Katie was running over to her bath, tripped, fell and hit her head on the side of the plastic bathtub.  No blood but she cried for a long time.  Eventually she stopped and was acting normal.  I tried to ice the area but she wouldn’t let me. Later, we were able to get her give her a bath, brush her teeth and she went to bed.

This morning wasn’t so pretty.  Her eye was SWOLLEN.  So much that her left eye could not open all the way.  She had hit the eyebrow bone area so that caused her whole eye to swell up.  We decided to keep her home from school and my mom is watching her today.  Katie is acting completely normal and when I lifted her up to the mirror to see, she laughed and said, “Funny ouwwie”.  Pish covered her good eye and asked if she could see.  She said no and smiled.  I put a finger up and asked how many fingers she saw.  She said, “One!”.  She seems fine but we’ll be monitoring her for the next 3 days.

This morning, I called our doctor and explained what happened to the phone nurse. She said it always looks worse the 2nd and 3rd day. She also told us that after head trauma, we should watch for these symptoms. If we see any of these, we need to bring Katie in.

-  pupils are the same size and they react to light
- blood in the ears or nose
- vomiting
- odd behavior
- extreme drowsiness

I called my mom a little while ago and she said Katie is acting fine and that she can open her eye more now. We’ll have to go kick the stupid bathtub later.

Car accident

…not your normal car accident but more of a potty accident in the car. This morning Katie said she needed to pee on the way to school. Pish asked if she could hold it until they got to school but she said no.  So he exited the freeway and went to a McDonalds. He then discovered she meant poo and that she had already gone in her underwear.  eww!  Lucky it didn’t squish out so he cleaned her up and threw away the underwear.  I just bought this carseat seat cover for only $9.66.  In case there is another accident, I don’t have to take the whole car seat cover off to wash.

Underwear update

Day one of underwear at school was a success! Only one accident. Not bad for being at school for 9 hours. I’m so proud of our little Katie!
