We had an early christmas in San Jose this past weekend. We were not used to the cold but still had a great time. I was looking forward to taking Katie to a snow park but it was not open yet.
Instead we went the Children’s Museum. Katie loved it! There was so much for her to see and touch. Auntie Ishya touched too much though. She ended up getting a sore throat and being sick.

The rest of the weekend was family time full of food. We also played golf on Saturday but no one played well.
Have you heard of ”The Settlers of Catan”? We played a lot of this this past weekend. It can take a long time but it was still fun. It was funny seeing the family getting competitive with their cards. Two sheep for your brick?

Harvard the fish died last week.
He started on his side a lot and then was fully upside down. Keeping my promise not to flush him, we had a burial in the front yard. A neighbor was outside so she joined the ceremony too. Rest in peace Harvard and say hi to Yale for us in heaven.
Not sure what this means for college chances but Uncle Billy says it’s UCs or community colleges now. :)

Pish’s dad recently asked Katie what she wants to be when she grows up.
She said, “An adult’.

We had a fun-filled weekend. First, was the annual Ting xmas party at their new house in Huntington Beach (way closer for us now!). The number of kids is multiplying and it is so fun to see them all dressed up and playing together.

We also decided to see It’s a Small World at night and headed to Disneyland on sunday. The line was long but it was worth it! The lights outside were amazing and the inside had a full holiday theme. They also sang Jingle Bells and Deck the Halls. After the ride, I wanted to watch the Christmas parade and we hung around for it but in the middle of it Katie said she had to pee. Usually we don’t have to run to the bathroom because she can hold it for a while but not this time. She was running in place and actually peed a little. Sorry Katie! Mommy was selfish and wanted to see the parade. So we had to head home after that.
Also, Pish finally figured out how to score points in Buzz Lightyear. yay!

Katie has been grouchier than usual this week. She’s trying to be more independent and doesn’t always listen to us. She wants to do things HER way and on HER terms. She even got in trouble at school (this was the first time). When I picked her up, the teacher told me that she was not listening to the teachers and that they had to pull her aside twice. They said she was very antsy and would not listen to their instructions. They were surprised and said it was very out of character for her.
I’m not sure if she is just more used to school now or if she’s just in a funk but we’ll see. Pish thinks she’s growing up and is becoming feisty. What have we created???

Harvard the fish almost died again.
We were away this weekend in Lost Vegas (That’s what Katie calls it) and he did not get fed. Usually I leave him with the neighbors but I didn’t want to bother them this time. So I fed him right before we left and was going to feed him as soon as we got home. When we got home on Sunday, he was at the bottom and was not moving at all. This is very uncommon for him because he’s a pretty active little guy and swims around a lot. So I put some food in but he still didn’t move. I tapped the bowl and he breathed a little but still didn’t move. Since he probably had no energy, I used a chopstick to push the food down in front of his face and he ate it! After his meal I gave him some fresh water and hoped for the best. I was pretty sure he was going to die though and Pish was ready to flush him.
The next morning, I woke up and checked on him. He was back to swimming at the top!!! Not quite as active as before but at least he was moving! So I put some more food in there. I think he could smell it and he opened his mouth but he kept missing the food. I think his eye sight was damaged.
I pushed the food in front of him again and he gobbled it up! So he’s still alive but I might have to chopstick feed him from now on. Live on Harvard!

I’ve been really busy and am behind on posting but I hope to catch up this week. I wanted to give a quick katie update though. Her new favorite word is “why?”. Anything you tell or ask her, that’s her response.
It’s time to eat dinner. “Why?”
Clean up your toys. “Why?”
No more iPhone games. “Why?”
Let’s go brush your teeth. “Why?”
Do you want a snack? “Why?”
Another new one is if you ask her if she wants a time out, she says “Where?”. ahh…she’s growing up so fast.
