I’ve been trying to get Katie to ride her tricycle but she was never interested.  She used to just sit on the bike and walk with it.  Well, this weekend we were playing outside and she started pedaling.  woo hoo!  She’s also getting a lot better on her scooter.

Thanks to Ry Ry for passing down his helmet to Katie. We using it a lot!

And thanks to Uncle Eli for getting Katie this cool bike for her last birthday!

This weekend, we celebrated Noah’s birthday at Build-A-Bear.  It was our first time there and Katie loved it!

I forgot to mention that Katie got a free pair of RayBan sunglasses from the eye doctor.  Well, it’s free because our insurance covers it.  A free pair every year!  She now owns sunglasses that are nicer than mine.

I took Katie to her first eye doctor appointment yesterday.  She did so well!  The doctor did some initial tests and then we had her sit in my lap in the chair.  The doctor said, “Oh..she’s too young for letters and numbers, huh?”.  I said, “NO!”  hehe..so she started showing Katie a series of letters.  At first Katie said, “It’s too small, make them bigger”.  But we were able to get her to say the letters and then she started having fun with it.

The results was that she is 20/20.  But she does have Chamkasem genes so I’m sure she’ll be needing glasses soon.

Katie is quite the little talker now.  She has a great imagination and makes up stories.  She also asks lots of questions.  Here are some recent conversations:

Katie:  There’s an airplane! (pointing in the sky)
Daddy: Maybe Ya and Yeh Yeh are on that airplane.
Katie: Not ON dada…IN the airplane.

Mommy: Good night big girl

HUGE thanks to Pish’s parents who were down for over a week helping us with babysitting.  Katie had lots of fun playing with grandma and finally broke the shyness with grandpa.  They played so well together.  Her favorite was playing on nickjr.com with Yeh Yeh.  He couldn’t understand half the stuff Katie was saying but I think they still had fun.

Katie has been attached to my iPhone lately.  She ALWAYS wants to play games or watch videos.  Yesterday, I asked her if she loved me more of the iPhone more.  She said iPhone.

I’ve noticed  my ears are getting worse in my old age.  I catch myself always turning the radio and tv louder and louder.  It’s bad when Katie calls me out on it though.  I picked her up from school one day and when she got in the car, she said, “Moooom, it’s too loud in here. ”  It might be time to get my ears checked…

I’m so sad the holidays are over.  It is my favorite time of year.  This year we took a week and a half off but didn’t go anywhere (well, except for a short trip to San Diego).  Usually we always travel for our vacations but this year it just felt like a really long weekend at home and I completely lost track of the days of the week. 

On Christmas eve, I wrapped gifts and go everything ready.  Katie and I left two cookies out for Santa.  She was so excited.  If you had asked her what she wanted Santa to bring her, she said, “Hungry Hungry Hippo”.  She saw the box once in Target and asked me what it was.  I have no idea how she remembered that.

After opening gifts we headed to my mom’s house for lunch and dinner.  The whole family was there and it was fun eating, drinking and hanging out with everyone.

The next week, we went to San Diego for two days.  We stayed at the Embassy Suites using points.  It’s such a great deal.  They have free hot breakfast in the mornings and a Manager Reception every afternoon (That means open bar and snacks).  On Tuesday we headed to SeaWorld with my bro’s family.  Katie liked it there.  There were so many animals and they had kids rides for her.  Her favorite part was the Pet’s Rule show.  Lots of trained dogs, cats and pigs.  It’s amazing how they train all these animals.  After a long day we invited my bro over to booze it up at the Manager’s Reception.  Later we walked (yes I walked) about a half a mile to a yummy restaurant called Cafe Sevilla.  The food was tasty!

The next day we went to SeaWorld again for half a day.  On the way home we picked up Kennan whom we would be babysitting for new years eve.  It was rainy and gloomy but Katie was so excited to have Kennan at her house for a sleepover.  Plus I was excited because when Kennan is over, Katie just runs off with her and they play so well together.  If only they lived closer to us….

On New Year’s eve, I took Kennan and Katie the Pretend City in Irvine.  They LOVED it.  It’s a whole pretend city that is just their size.  They had a grocery store, gas station, post office, bank, garden and a lot more!  They also did a special countdown and ball drop for new years.

One of the new toys we got for Christmas was the Flip video camera.  Thanks to all the cool family members that got one for us.  We are actually using it more than I thought we would.  All the videos here were taken with this new camera.  Even katie knows how to take her own videos.

A while back, I made a New Year’s Resolution to take the stairs at work.  Up in the mornings and always stairs going down.  Well, four years later I’m still doing it!  Not that it is made any difference in my butt size but I guess it could be bigger if I hadn’t been doing this.  So my this year’s resolution is to continue the previous year’s resolutions.  A bigger butt would be scary!

Anyone one else have any butt resolutions?
