Hitting Report

Yesterday I got a Hitting Report from Katie’s school.  This is the second one I’ve received.  Luckily, she’s not the one hitting.  She was the one who got ”swatted” in the face.  The teacher was very apologetic but it’s not her fault.  Kids are kids and as long as Katie is not the one hitting, it’s ok.  She wasn’t hurt so it was not a big deal to me.  The teacher said, “You are so cool” and later Pish said, “That other kid better have gotten a report sent home too!”.  :)

Easter egg hunt

This weekend, we made the most of our friend’s Home Owner Association dues by inviting ourselves to their association’s easter celebration.  :)   They had an easter egg hunt, pictures with the easter bunny, face painting, cupcake decorating, a jump house and a trackless train.  Katie had a lot of fun.

Need for speed….

….or need to feel young again??  Pish has been talking about a new car but just recently he acted quickly on it.  How quick you ask?  Well…he bought a new car yesterday!  I’m not sure if it is because we are expecting our 2nd child or because he is turning 35 this year, but he really wanted a fast car (stick shift of course).  The only restriction he had was that it had to fit two carseats.  At least he’s responsible during his mid-life crisis.  :)

He brought the car home yesterday and we drove it around the block.  Katie seemed to like it and said, “Mommy, this is like a roller coaster!”  She’s still getting used to the manual transmission.

So if you see a silver Mazda Speed3 with baby carseats in it, it’s Pish!

Weekend

This past weekend we had a quick trip up north to see the in laws and to attend a wedding.  Thanks to the fam who helped us babysit all weekend.  Katie loved seeing you guys!

15 weeks

This weekend I started to feel some flutters in my belly.  At first I wondered if it was gas or if I was hungry but I think it was the baby!  I’m finally feeling something but I still feel this pregnancy is going slow.  I officially have maternity pants in my rotation now and I have been eating more.  5 more weeks until we find out the gender!

BabyCenter update:
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She’s busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she’s likely to move away from the beam.

14 weeks

I’ve been feeling great.  Some days I actually forget I’m pregnant.  I just feel fat (even though I’ve only gained 3 lbs so far).

I’m 14 weeks now and here is the BabyCenter update:
Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb. Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he’ll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you’re having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. In other news: Your baby’s stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces.

Fun Fact:  With seahorses, the daddies get pregnant and have babies, not the mommies.  :)

Big Bear

This past weekend we took a quick trip to Big Bear.  I took a half day off on Friday and we started driving at 1pm.  On the way we hit a sigalert because a big rig truck had flipped over.  With the help of the iPhone and GPS, we were able to take local streets and get around it but it still set us back 30-40 minutes.  However, we still got there before 4pm and had time to play in the snow.

Pish and Katie had been talking about a Care Bear snowman all week and that was the first thing they did when they got there.  I didn’t know Pish had such artistic talent.  Great job dada!  Care Bear Snowman

The other two families arrived late Friday night but we had all day Saturday to play in the snow and walk around town.  The house we stayed it was pretty new and was very comfortable.  We cooked all our meals and the kids had fun chasing each other around.  The location was perfect because there was a vacant lot next door which made a great spot for sledding and playing in the snow.

On Saturday Pish attempted a Dora snowman but he said it looked more like an alien.  I didn’t get a picture of that one.  Thanks to Pish for all the hard work this weekend.  He has been a great help with Katie since I’m prego.  I wish I could have been sledding with them but my parents would kill me.  :)

Big Sister Book

BIG thanks to Auntie Christine and Catelyn who gave Katie a new book.  She LOVES it!!  Each page is like a scrapbook for her to enter text or pictures.  It is a new project for her and she already started working on some of the pages.

Cover page:  Not sure why she picked a picture where she is not smiling but she picked it!

Page #1:  Katie wrote her name with very little guidance from Pish.

Page #2:  On this page we decided to let her write by herself.  We told her to write a 2 but she drew a rectangle and started to color it in.  So I wrote a 2 on a piece of paper and then she wrote it here in the book by herself.  Next we asked her favorite color and she said blue.  Again, I wrote it on a piece of paper for her to look at it and she wrote it in the book.  Favorite food was Mac N Cheese.  Favorite Song was ABC.  Favorite toy was Hello Kitty.

Baby #2 update

I had my 12 week doctor appointment today and I got to hear the heartbeat for the first time.  There is still a baby in there!  The doctor said the average heart rate is 155 and Baby #2’s was 159.  yay!  It looks like everything is progressing normally.  My next appointment is in 4 weeks.

Big Girl class

Katie started her first week in the big kid’s class.  The new teacher said she had no problems adjusting to the new classroom or to the new kids.  Katie is eager to do the new work and often likes to work with other kids.  They seem a bit stricter in this room though.  The school is already sugar free and peanut free but now the teacher is encouraging us NOT to put juice boxes in her lunch (even though it is already 100% juice).  The prefer milk or water because if the kids get juice, they finish the whole drink and then don’t finish their lunch.  maybe they are just thirsty???

Last week, her toddler class teachers were very sad to see Katie go.  I was surprised at how much they were affected by kids leaving their room and made us promise to visit them.  They also made this for Katie as a good bye gift.  The blue and pink dots are Katie’s finger prints.
