12 weeks
Posted in Baby #2 on 03/01/2010 04:09 pm by debbie_kaWhen I was pregnant with Katie I signed up with BabyCenter.com to get weekly updates on the baby’s development. I still get an email today for toddlers since it tracks Katie’s age. So I added baby #2 and now I’m getting new emails. I forgot what happens early on and I still love reading these.
I’m 12 weeks along now and it seems like it is going to be a long pregnancy. I know it is supposed to go fast but it just hasn’t yet. See below for the week 12 update.
Week 12
The most dramatic development this weekReflexes. Your baby’s fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won’t be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over two inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.
