Baby #2 update

I had my 12 week doctor appointment today and I got to hear the heartbeat for the first time.  There is still a baby in there!  The doctor said the average heart rate is 155 and Baby #2’s was 159.  yay!  It looks like everything is progressing normally.  My next appointment is in 4 weeks.

12 weeks

When I was pregnant with Katie I signed up with BabyCenter.com to get weekly updates on the baby’s development.  I still get an email today for toddlers since it tracks Katie’s age.  So I added baby #2 and now I’m getting new emails.  I forgot what happens early on and I still love reading these.

I’m 12 weeks along now and it seems like it is going to be a long pregnancy.  I know it is supposed to go fast but it just hasn’t yet.  See below for the week 12 update.

Week 12
The most dramatic development this weekReflexes. Your baby’s fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won’t be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over two inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.

Feeling Better – Part 2

I forgot to mention in my last post that I love carbs lately!  They seem to make me feel less dizzy so I’ve been eating a lot of it.  However, this is causing a problem.  It seems that my butt size is growing faster than my belly.  Did the baby move back there?  haha

My belly is starting to show more this week.  I’m not sure if it’s fat from the carbs or if is really is the baby but there is definitely a bump.  I didn’t think I’d show this early but my excuse is that my skin was already stretched out from the first time around.  ;)

Feeling Better

A couple friends gave me a tip to take my prenatal vitamins at night instead of the morning.  I tried that and it worked!  I feel much better during the day.  I still get a little dizzy and I’m more tired but nowhere near how nauseous I used to be.  yay!

I guess the baby doesn’t like the vitamins during the day.  So high maintenance already!  Is this a sign for things to come??

Katie Quote

Katie:  Mommy, when the baby comes out can I share all my toys with her?

me:  Of course, that is very nice of you.  Do you think the baby is a girl or a boy?

Katie:  Girl!  I want to share my hair clips with her too

:)

Oh Baby!

An exclusive for my loyal blog readers!!! We had a doctor appointment today and it’s official…..we are expecting our second baby!

8weeks

I’m almost 9 weeks along and my due date is September 13th.  We are really excited!

I didn’t have morning sickness with Katie but I am having some this time.  I am not vomiting but I am nauseous most of the day.  The doctor said they could prescribe me some drugs but I’d rather not take any.

When we told Katie that mommy had a baby in her belly she said, “No…can the baby be in dada’s belly?”  It was so cute.  She’s ready to be a big sister and wants to kiss the baby all the time.   We even took her to the ultrasound today.  I’m not sure she understood the picture.  Pish called the baby a chocolate chip but the ultrasound tech corrected him and said gummy bear.  :)

I did have a slight scare at 5 weeks though.  I started to feel some muscle tightening in my lower right abdomen.  It was not a cramp but just a tightening when I moved certain ways or coughed.  I called the nurse but luckily she said it was completely normal.

It was the ligament that holds up the uterus.  As the uterus grows a person might feel some tightening of the ligaments in the left, right or center.  She asked if i had a child before because i would not have felt this during my first.  It is most common after you’ve already had a baby before.  I would only need to worry if I have spotting, dizziness, and shoulder pain (then it could be a ectopic pregnancy).  Luckily I have NONE of those symptoms.  phew!

I started blogging in September 2006 when I found out I was pregnant with Katie.  Here we go again!  :)
