On Saturday we attended Olivia’s 1 year birthday party. It was a big event with some tasty food. They also had a corner to take photo booth pics but there was no booth. There was a machine in front of you and a backdrop behind you. To start it, you stepped on a foot pad and it took 4 pictures. Within a seconds, it printed the results seen below (please ignore the bubbles that spilled on the A). It was fun. I want a photo boothless stand at my next birthday!

This weekend was Ryan’s 9th birthday! We planned to celebrate it on Saturday but my parents couldn’t make it down to San Diego until later that day. So Pish, Katie and I decided to take the train down. It was fun. We sat on top level of the Metrolink train and got so see many things you don’t usually see while driving on the freeway. The view of the coast was amazing. I think we really take for granted how close we live to the ocean. The trip was pretty affordable too. It was $6 for adults and katie was free to go from Laguna to Oceanside.
Katie had lots of fun playing with her cousins. Here she is playing wii boxing with Ry. She even knocked him out once!

A couple weeks back we attended Faith’s 5th birthday party. I know Traci is crafty but she still always amazes me. The party was a cooking theme. They were given personalized chef hats and the first activity was decorating their own aprons. Then, there were four stations set up around the house (Fruit kabobs, Smoothies, Pizza making, and cupcake decorating). Katie had a great time since she loves crafts and hands on activities.
We had a busy weekend that started at Disneyland on Friday for Debbie’s birthday! We had a great time (especially since Ishya hadn’t been in so long). I think we traumatized Ishya on the Tower of Terror but it was fun! Disneyland was beautifully decorated for the holiday. I can’t wait to see what they do for Christmas!
Later in the night, Pish dropped off Katie at my mom’s house so that we could have an adult night out at downtown Disney to celebrate Debbie Yeh’s birthday. Surprisingly we were able to surprise her with five people driving down from LA to have dinner with us at ESPN zone. You would think she’d expect a surprise from me but we were still able to pull it off! We enjoyed some ribs, burgers and lots of drinks. Debbie wasn’t able to keep her ribs down but that’s all part of the birthday fun. hehe. Happy Birthday Deb!
On Saturday, it was our turn for dinner club so we hosted a Halloween lunch. I made Lasagna, Fettuccini Alfredo, Caesar salad, eyeball appetizers, mummy hot dogs for the kids, and the desserts consisted of cream cheese swirled brownies, and spiderweb cupcakes (thanks to Ishya’s decorating skills).
After we all took a nap, we carved some pumpkins and got ready for some trick or treating. Katie got spooked at some of the scarier house decorations but all in all, I think she had fun.

This weekend was Maddie’s 1st birthday party. She looked so cute! The party was a sweets theme and Sherri did a great job. There was plenty of food, candies and shaved ice. yummy! Katie had her first tootsie roll lolipop and she LOVED it. Daddy was working that morning so he wasn’t there to stop her from eating it. hehe. Of course she chose the blue one and had a blue mouth the whole time.
There was also a cool balloon guy at the party. He was very creative and made some really cool looking balloons.
On sunday we went to the track for our weekly run. We’ll see how long weekly lasts (it’s only been 2 weeks in a row). I was planning on running 1.5 miles this time but Katie got clingy and wanted me to play with her. So I only ran 1 mile. I’ll try to up it next week. I lalso ooked online and found some fitness boot camps. They are 3 day a week for 4 weeks. I’m scared because I know it will be hard but maybe hard is what I need. My work has a fitness reimbursement of $100 so I should take advantage of it. The next camp starts next week. I haven’t signed up yet but I hope to commit sometime this week.
Later in the afternoon we went to rent a movie and there was a pumpkin patch in the parking lot. Katie loved all the pumpkins and I was able to get this picture of her.
We attended our last two weddings of the year. Congratulatons to Lisa & Aaron and Jon & Jenny!
On Friday, we headed down to San Diego to hang out with my bro in the afternoon and then the whole family headed out to Lisa & Aaron’s wedding dinner. They are old family friends and I we love seeing them. It was a small intimate dinner and the food was yummy. Before dinner, there were a couple of speeches and during the second one, Katie yelled out, “Mommy, I have to poo poo!” So embarassing. I quickly took her out of her chair and took her to the bathroom. She sat on the potty but she said, “Nothing!” argh…are you serious? So we went back to dinner and when we are about to sit down, she says again, , “Mommy, I have to poo poo!” ahhh…gotta love potty training. This time I took her to the car and asked if she wanted to poo in that potty. She agreed and pooed a big one. Thank you to Christine for the Potette Potty. We keep that in my car and it’s saved us a bunch of times already.

On Saturday, we dropped off Katie at my mom’s house and headed to Jon & Jenny’s wedding in Bel Air. The ceremony was at a BEAUTIFUL mansion. I wish I had a house like that (hint..hint to pish). Jon looked so sharp in his white tuxedo and Jenny was stunning. The wedding was somewhat of a college reunion and it was so nice to catch up everyone. After lunch at Hurry Curry and a quick nap, we headed to Empress Pavillion. During one of the speeches, Pish yelled out, “I need to poo poo!” Just kidding; he didn’t. It was a pretty tame wedding but still fun.

Last Thursday night we surprised Ishya for her birthday in San Jose. She walked into her house and there we were! She saw Katie and didn’t move. I think she couldn’t understand why there was a kid in her house. Then she looked closer and said, “Katie????”. The surprise was awesome!
The whole weekend consisted of lots family time, trips to the park, lots of eating and lots of desserts. Happy birthday Ishya!
Sorry about the dark video. we did the surprise in the dark.
As usual we had a jam-packed weekend. Pish had the day off on Thursday so he took Katie to Disneyland again. They got there on Chamkasem time (EARLY!). Who else gets to see parking lot empty? Since most kids started school the park was not crowded and there were no lines to see the characters.
Pish hates rides that go in circles (tea cups, dumbo, etc) and always makes me go on those with Katie but some how Katie convinced him to go on two spinning rides. Daddy is so weak when Katie asks nicely. Here’s some video he took with his fancy new iPhone 3Gs.
On Friday we stayed the night at my bro’s house and then watched one of Ryan’s baseball games. No more tee ball for Ry Ry. It was full on stealing bases and stuff. Kids grow up so fast. On Sunday, we went to cheer on Auntie Jos who was running the Disneyland Half Marathon. Seeing all the runners motivated me. We saw old men and old women running the race. Also, if people can run 13 miles in full costume, I should be able to do a 5k. hehe..need to start somewhere.
Sunday was birthday party time! Cali turned 4 and Ava is now 2 years old. They are soooo cute. The party was a dress up theme and was decorated with a red carpet and stage for the kids to dance on. Katie loved the face painting, balloons and of course, there was a lot of YUMMY food. Click HERE for more pics from the party.
It was a long weekend, so no work on Monday. I love no work days. We took some time to visit Mike and Show’s new house in Huntington Beach. The house is awesome and Katie loved all of Sydney’s toys. There was some warm up time needed but after a while they were already chasing each other through the house.
I had a GREAT weekend!! Thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes.
On Thursday night we headed up to San Jose. My dilemma was whether to let a newly potty trained toddler on the plane in just underwear. I thought Katie could do it but Pish wanted to go the Pull Up route. I decided to risk it and would take responsibility if she had an accident. So I packed an extra outfit just in case. While on the plane, Katie ordered and apple juice and I mentally noted that I should take her to the bathroom 20 minutes later. After 10 minutes of juice drinking, Katie opened the lid and spilled the whole drink in her lap. So she wet her pants but it wasn’t pee!
On Friday, Pish surprised me with a birthday dinner. Thanks! You are the best husband ever! It was really nice to catch up with old friends and cousins. Thanks to everyone who was able to make it out!
On Saturday morning, we woke up early to start our drive to Tahoe for Grace and Dave’s wedding. It was at a private estate and the back drop was the lake (yes deb, there is a lake in Lake Tahoe). It was beautiful and the wedding was really fun!
Special thanks to Pish’s parents and Ishya who babysat Katie all weekend. She had so much fun! When we were leaving she kept saying she wanted to go back to Ya’s house. We miss you guys already!
