Silly

This what happens when a kid has too much sugar.  I have no idea what she is saying…

Frogs!

Yesterday we visited the Muzeo musuem to check out the Frog exhibit.  They had documentary for you to watch, interactive displays, live frogs to see and read about and a kids area to play in.  Katie and Pish’s mom loved it.  We all learned a lot of new things about frogs.  Did you know some bull frogs eat rodents and small mammals?

Here’s a pic of my favorite frog

Group picture in front of the exhibit

After I took the picture, Katie insisted on taking one too.  Good aim but a little blurry. :)

Later that afternoon we played outside.  Katie wanted to ride her bike (doesn’t she look like such a big girl here??)  and I wanted to walk.  I’m hoping walking will induce labor!

The next American Idol

Lately, Katie loves to listen to music and her favorite artists are Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Usher.  I wasn’t able to get a video of her singing any Bieber songs but here are some others.

Swim Class

Katie started a new swim class this week.  It is a 4 day a week (for 2 weeks) session near my mom’s house.  The community center mandates you sign up in person.  The initial registration was last saturday at 8am.  I arrived early at 7:40am and there were already over 100 people in front of me.  I was shocked!

There are 10 time slots a day and six levels.  What are the chances that the one time slot and level I want be filled up by the time I get up to the front?  Apparently very high…with 10 people left to go, they announced the time slot I wanted was full.  So I had to choose an earlier time slot and my mom has to take her.  I went the first day but my mom says Katie has been improving each day.  Here are some pics and videos.

Free dinner

Benihana sent me a free dinner coupon for my bday so I told pish to sign up and he got one too.  You have the whole month of your birthday to use it and of course we waited until the last week to go.  We went last night and they let us use both coupons.  If you like Benihana, sign up!  The coupon is good for $30 off your meal (we got $60 off!)

Besides the slow servce (we sat down at 6:30pm but they didn’t even take our order until close to 7pm), it was a good dinner.  Katie had fun too.  Doesn’t she look like such a big girl here?

Movie continued…

As I mentioned before, Katie picked the movie after seeing the trailers at home.  Here is a conversation she had after the movie.

Pish:  Katie did you like the movie?
Katie:  Yes
Pish:  What was it about?
Katie:  (silence…..)  Why didn’t we watch the dragon movie?  (smiling)

Only 3 yrs old and already a smart aleck.

1st movie

Our friends Jack and Christine have been taking their 4 yr old daughter to the movies for a while now.  We had never tried because I didn’t think Katie would sit through a whole movie.  Yesterday, they invited us to the $1 Tuesday movies in Woodbridge.  We figured we’d try it since it would only cost us $3 total.  If we had to walk out, that would be fine.

They were going to see Letters to Juliet.  I wanted to see this movie but was not sure Katie would pay attention.  I checked the theater and they were also playing “How To Train Your Dragon” which is a animated movie.  I thought maybe Katie would like that better.  Pish suggested playing the two trailers to Katie and let her decide.  I did that and she immediately chose Letters to Juliet because the song in the trailer was her favorite Taylor Swift song.   So we decided to give it a shot.  Maybe she’d sit still if she saw Catelyn sitting.

The first hour was pretty good.  She watched the movie while eating some snacks.  The last half hour she moved around a lot though.  They finally played her Taylor Swift song but it was short.  After the scene, Katie yelled out “Why did they turn it off?  Where is Taylor Swift? Why did they turn it off?”  I tried to get her to whisper but she didn’t want to.  :)   Giving her more food helped get her through the end of the movie.

So as a summary, Katie’s 1st movie in a theater was not a bad experience.  I’ll probably try a kids movie next though.  It is definitely a bargain for $1 on Tuesdays and $2 all other days.

Ishya & Billy weekend

Ishya & Billy visited this weekend and we had so much fun.  Lots of eating, swimming and Katie time for them.  We even made some yummy smores in our outdoor fireplace.  We miss them already!

Here are some pics from the weekend.  You can see katie’s nose boo-boo in these pics.  We let her go without a bandaid this weekend but put it back on for school this week since I don’t want her to be outside in the sun with the open wound.

Reading to Auntie Ishya:

New Room

I’ve been looking for some decals to decorate Katie’s new PINK room but most online were pretty expensive.  Then I found these at Target yesterday.

Katie, Pish and I had fun putting this up.

Face Plant

Katie had a bit of an accident last weekend.  On July 4th, she was running around outside and did a face plant.  I’m not sure why she didn’t break the fall with her hands but her face hit the floor pretty hard.  Her nose and her upper lip were cut up pretty badly but her teeth were ok.  That was the first thing Pish checked.  :)

I had her wear a bandaid to school all week and it seems to be healing pretty quickly.  I also bought some cream to reduce the scarring but it says I can’t apply to an open wound so I’m waiting for it to heal more first.

Here’s some pics 5 days after the accident.  It looks way better because you don’t see open flesh anymore.
