Snow Day!

We took Katie to the snow on saturday and she LOVED it!  We went up to Mt. High with Jack, Christine and Catelyn.  Pish was able to find a spot off the side of the road for some good sledding.  The girls had lots of fun sledding, playing and making a snow man.  Thanks to Sherri for letting us borrow her sled.  Too bad Jack’s cement mixing tub didn’t hold up.

Here are the girls singing on the drive up.

Thanks!

HUGE thanks to Pish’s parents who were down for over a week helping us with babysitting.  Katie had lots of fun playing with grandma and finally broke the shyness with grandpa.  They played so well together.  Her favorite was playing on nickjr.com with Yeh Yeh.  He couldn’t understand half the stuff Katie was saying but I think they still had fun.

Thanks Ya and Yeh Yeh!

Huh?

I’ve noticed  my ears are getting worse in my old age.  I catch myself always turning the radio and tv louder and louder.  It’s bad when Katie calls me out on it though.  I picked her up from school one day and when she got in the car, she said, “Moooom, it’s too loud in here. ”  It might be time to get my ears checked…

Christmas/New Year’s 2009

I’m so sad the holidays are over.  It is my favorite time of year.  This year we took a week and a half off but didn’t go anywhere (well, except for a short trip to San Diego).  Usually we always travel for our vacations but this year it just felt like a really long weekend at home and I completely lost track of the days of the week.  :)

On Christmas eve, I wrapped gifts and go everything ready.  Katie and I left two cookies out for Santa.  She was so excited.  If you had asked her what she wanted Santa to bring her, she said, “Hungry Hungry Hippo”.  She saw the box once in Target and asked me what it was.  I have no idea how she remembered that.

After opening gifts we headed to my mom’s house for lunch and dinner.  The whole family was there and it was fun eating, drinking and hanging out with everyone.

The next week, we went to San Diego for two days.  We stayed at the Embassy Suites using points.  It’s such a great deal.  They have free hot breakfast in the mornings and a Manager Reception every afternoon (That means open bar and snacks).  On Tuesday we headed to SeaWorld with my bro’s family.  Katie liked it there.  There were so many animals and they had kids rides for her.  Her favorite part was the Pet’s Rule show.  Lots of trained dogs, cats and pigs.  It’s amazing how they train all these animals.  After a long day we invited my bro over to booze it up at the Manager’s Reception.  Later we walked (yes I walked) about a half a mile to a yummy restaurant called Cafe Sevilla.  The food was tasty!

The next day we went to SeaWorld again for half a day.  On the way home we picked up Kennan whom we would be babysitting for new years eve.  It was rainy and gloomy but Katie was so excited to have Kennan at her house for a sleepover.  Plus I was excited because when Kennan is over, Katie just runs off with her and they play so well together.  If only they lived closer to us….

On New Year’s eve, I took Kennan and Katie the Pretend City in Irvine.  They LOVED it.  It’s a whole pretend city that is just their size.  They had a grocery store, gas station, post office, bank, garden and a lot more!  They also did a special countdown and ball drop for new years.

Happy New Year!

One of the new toys we got for Christmas was the Flip video camera.  Thanks to all the cool family members that got one for us.  We are actually using it more than I thought we would.  All the videos here were taken with this new camera.  Even katie knows how to take her own videos.

New Year’s Resolutions

A while back, I made a New Year’s Resolution to take the stairs at work.  Up in the mornings and always stairs going down.  Well, four years later I’m still doing it!  Not that it is made any difference in my butt size but I guess it could be bigger if I hadn’t been doing this.  So my this year’s resolution is to continue the previous year’s resolutions.  A bigger butt would be scary!

Anyone one else have any butt resolutions?

Thanksgiving pics

I’m WAY behind on posting and am trying to catch up.

We spent Thanksgiving at my mom’s house with all the cousins and all the kids.  They all play so well together.  We also had the pleasure of watching Ryan play in baseball tournament.  It was so convenient that the tournament was in Fountain Valley.  Great Job Ry!!

Weekend

We had an early christmas in San Jose this past weekend.   We were not used to the cold but still had a great time.  I was looking forward to taking Katie to a snow park but it was not open yet.  :(   Instead we went the Children’s Museum.  Katie loved it!  There was so much for her to see and touch.   Auntie Ishya touched too much though.  She ended up getting a sore throat and being sick.

The rest of the weekend was family time full of food.  We also played golf on Saturday but no one played well.

Have you heard of  ”The Settlers of Catan”?  We played a lot of this this past weekend.  It can take a long time but it was still fun.  It was funny seeing the family getting competitive with their cards.  Two sheep for your brick?  :)

RIP – Harvard

Harvard the fish died last week.  :(   He started on his side a lot and then was fully upside down.  Keeping my promise not to flush him, we had a burial in the front yard.  A neighbor was outside so she joined the ceremony too.  Rest in peace Harvard and say hi to Yale for us in heaven.

Not sure what this means for college chances but Uncle Billy says it’s UCs or community colleges now. :)

Weekend

We had a fun-filled weekend.  First, was the annual Ting xmas party at their new house in Huntington Beach (way closer for us now!).  The number of kids is multiplying and it is so fun to see them all dressed up and playing together.

We also decided to see It’s a Small World at night and headed to Disneyland on sunday.  The line was long but it was worth it!  The lights outside were amazing and the inside had a full holiday theme.  They also sang Jingle Bells and Deck the Halls.  After the ride, I wanted to watch the Christmas parade and we hung around for it but in the middle of it Katie said she had to pee.  Usually we don’t have to run to the bathroom because she can hold it for a while but not this time.  She was running in place and actually peed a little.  Sorry Katie!  Mommy was selfish and wanted to see the parade.  So we had to head home after that.  :(

Also, Pish finally figured out how to score points in Buzz Lightyear.  yay!

Harvard the fish almost died again.  :(

We were away this weekend in Lost Vegas (That’s what Katie calls it) and he did not get fed.  Usually I leave him with the neighbors but I didn’t want to bother them this time.  So I fed him right before we left and was going to feed him as soon as we got home.  When we got home on Sunday, he was at the bottom and was not moving at all.  This is very uncommon for him because he’s a pretty active little guy and swims around a lot.  So I put some food in but he still didn’t move.  I tapped the bowl and he breathed a little but still didn’t move.  Since he probably had no energy, I used a chopstick to push the food down in front of his face and he ate it!  After his meal I gave him some fresh water and hoped for the best.  I was pretty sure he was going to die though and Pish was ready to flush him.

The next morning, I woke up and checked on him.  He was back to swimming at the top!!!  Not quite as active as before but at least he was moving!  So I put some more food in there.  I think he could smell it and he opened his mouth but he kept missing the food.  I think his eye sight was damaged.  :(   I pushed the food in front of him again and he gobbled it up!  So he’s still alive but I might have to chopstick feed him from now on.  Live on Harvard!
