Beautiful Simplicity

Back in September we attended an intimate chinese banquet to celebrate the marriage of Lisa and Aaron.  The next day they had a small wedding ceremony and I’m finally getting around to posting the pics they sent us.  We are so used to attending weddings with hundreds of people but after seeing these pics, it really shows the romantic and beautiful side of a wedding ceremony.  Have you ever attended a ceremony with 6 guests??  Congratulations again to Lisa and Aaron!

Weekend

We attended our last two weddings of the year.  Congratulatons to Lisa & Aaron and Jon & Jenny!

On Friday, we headed down to San Diego to hang out with my bro in the afternoon and then the whole family headed out to Lisa & Aaron’s wedding dinner.  They are old family friends and I we love seeing them.  It was a small intimate dinner and the food was yummy.  Before dinner, there were a couple of speeches and during the second one, Katie yelled out, “Mommy, I have to poo poo!”  So embarassing.  I quickly took her out of her chair and took her to the bathroom.  She sat on the potty but she said, “Nothing!”  argh…are you serious?  So we went back to dinner and when we are about to sit down, she says again, , “Mommy, I have to poo poo!”  ahhh…gotta love potty training.  This time I took her to the car and asked if she wanted to poo in that potty.  She agreed and pooed a big one.  Thank you to Christine for the Potette Potty.  We keep that in my car and it’s saved us a bunch of times already.

On Saturday, we dropped off Katie at my mom’s house and headed to Jon & Jenny’s wedding in Bel Air.  The ceremony was at a BEAUTIFUL mansion.  I wish I had a house like that (hint..hint to pish).  Jon looked so sharp in his white tuxedo and Jenny was stunning.  The wedding was somewhat of a college reunion and it was so nice to catch up everyone.  After lunch at Hurry Curry and a quick nap, we headed to Empress Pavillion.  During one of the speeches, Pish yelled out, “I need to poo poo!”  Just kidding; he didn’t.  :) It was a pretty tame wedding but still fun.

After the wedding we headed out to a bar to surprise Johnny for his 30th birthday.  Our family loves surprises.  :)   Happy birthday to Johnny and Nina!!

Weekend

Pish and I had a great weekend.  On Friday morning Pish dropped off Katie at my brother’s house.  She was SOOO excited.  Later that night, we had date night at Club 33 in Disneyland.  It was a little stressful at first because we got to the parking lot at 6:45 for our 7:30pm reservation but the line into the parking lot was LONG.  Who knew that many people went to Disneyland on Friday nights??  So by the time we parked, tram and speed-walked to the restaurant, it was almost 8pm.  We ordered our drinks right away!  The restaurant decor was really nice and is filled with so much history.  I ordered crab cakes and fish while Pish ordered the pre-set menu with steak.  It was all pretty good (besides the loud, drunk, obnoxious girls at a table near us).  During dinner we were able to see parts of Fantasmic from the balcony and after dinner we watched fireworks.  There were some trees in the way though.  So it wasn’t the best view.  Later we got in line for Indiana Jones.  I wanted to ride a ride that we can’t normally ride when Katie is with us.  That ride is bumpy! (need a sports bra kind of bumpy).  hehe.  It was a fun night!

On Saturday morning, we didn’t know what to do with ourselves.  The house was quiet and we slept in until 7:30am. woo hoo!  We were considering golfing but it was too hot.  We ended up running some errands and caught up on some Tivo.  It was nice to just relax on the couch.  Later that afternoon, we picked up my parents and headed to Greg and Lisa’s wedding.  Small world story….My parents know Greg’s dad from before we were born and I know Greg separately.  We were all invited to the wedding so we carpooled.  :)   The wedding was in PV and was beautiful!

On Sunday we drove down to pick up Katie.  I don’t think she missed us much.  I barely got a hug when I walked in.  My bro said she had lots of fun there and never asked for us.  There was only once where she did not want to nap so my brother had to get firm with her.  She got a little teary-eyed and whined for mama but then layed down and took a nap.  :D

Weekend

I had a GREAT weekend!!  Thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes.

On Thursday night we headed up to San Jose.  My dilemma was whether to let a newly potty trained toddler on the plane in just underwear.  I thought Katie could do it but Pish wanted to go the Pull Up route.  I decided to risk it and would take responsibility if she had an accident.  So I packed an extra outfit just in case.  While on the plane, Katie ordered and apple juice and I mentally noted that I should take her to the bathroom 20 minutes later.  After 10 minutes of juice drinking, Katie opened the lid and spilled the whole drink in her lap.  So she wet her pants but it wasn’t pee!

On Friday, Pish surprised me with a birthday dinner.  Thanks!  You are the best husband ever!  It was really nice to catch up with old friends and cousins.  Thanks to everyone who was able to make it out!

On Saturday morning, we woke up early to start our drive to Tahoe for Grace and Dave’s wedding.  It was at a private estate and the back drop was the lake (yes deb, there is a lake in Lake Tahoe).  It was beautiful and the wedding was really fun!

Special thanks to Pish’s parents  and Ishya who babysat Katie all weekend.  She had so much fun!  When we were leaving she kept saying she wanted to go back to Ya’s house.  We miss you guys already!

Weekend

Our Boston wedding was fun.  We spent lots of time with Pish’s high school friends and had some good laughs.  I missed Katie so much though!  This was the first time both Pish and I were away from her for a whole weekend.  I don’t think she missed us much though.  We were told she didn’t even ask for us until Sunday afternoon.

Thanks to Pish’s parents for coming down to babysit Katie.  Not being around kids that often, I think the had their hands full with a toddler.  Grandpa learned that 2 year olds say “No” alot.  hehe.  Katie had lots of fun playing with them and with an Aunt visiting from Thailand.

Weekend

Big THANKS to Grace for getting engaged and having a bachelorette party! We celebrated with 15 girls in San Diego and I really enjoyed the girl’s weekend away.  It was a little cool but the sun came out on Saturday and we were able to lay out at the beach all day.  It was so relaxing and fun to catch up with all the girls.  Going out at night was nice too!  I got to dress up, learned how to do eye makeup and Irene helped me with my “bump it” hairdo.  :)   It also was my first time in a Hummer limo.  And of course…every good party ends with someone getting sick.  Luckily it wasn’t me this time!  I feel bad for the janitor that has to clean up the calamari chunks in front of our hotel room.  Good times!  I can’t wait to see everyone again at the wedding in August!

Also, I want to say thanks to Pish who is the “best dad in the whole wide world” (that’s what katie says).  I missed them both a lot this weekend.

Weekend

On Friday and Saturday, Katie played with her friend Siena.  We had dinner on Friday,  Gymboree Saturday morning and some playtime at the mall afterwards.  Thanks for inviting us to go Gymboree with you!  This was Katie’s first time at Gymboree and she had fun climbing on everything.

On Saturday evening, we attended Johnny and Joy’s wedding reception in Cerritos.  I forgot my camera but see below for a pic I stole from cousin Nina’s blog.  The party was really fun and the food was  awesome!  Well, except for the extra spicy pork that burned my mouth for at least 10 minutes.  My favorite was the sticky balls wrapped in lettuce.  Katie was shy at first but then had lots of fun.  She was partying it up on the dance floor and stayed up past 9:30pm!  (note:  she’s been going to be at 7:15 on weeknights)

Congrats again to Johnny and Joy!  We are so happy for you.

More on Hawaii

I forgot to mention some things on my last Hawaii post:

-  Katie was exhausted most days as was back on a two nap schedule.
- Ishya brought me a book to read and I actually had some time to read it.  I don’t think I’ve read a real book for over 3 years.
- Since it was colder than I expected, you’ll see us wearing the same clothes in a lot of pictures.  Our clothes were so dirty but we had no choice since we didn’t have enough warm stuff.
- We sang lots of songs with Katie on this trip.  She can sing full songs on her own and will often tell me to stop singing because she wants to sing it by herself.
- Katie learned to say Thank You in Thai.
- We practiced saying Katie Chamkasem.  It’s hilarious when she says Chamkasem.
- I used to have a good rotation of dresses for weddings but I’ve been running low.  The bad thing about blogging is that you can see when I repeat dresses.  Please ignore the dress I’m wearing in photos.  I think I wore this to the last two weddings too. :)
- Katie recycled a dress too. She wore this a year ago and it was a little big.  This time it still fit and looked super cute!

I’ve added Ishya’s photos to my flickr.   Here are some highlights and you can click HERE for the full set of pictures.

Yay newlyweds!

Kauai & Oahu; Johnny & Joy's Wedding 3-6-09 256

They had a really fun bridal party.

The boys golfed three days and I joined them for one.  Golf in the wind and rain is hard so I won’t mention my score.

Here is a day at the beach.  A little windy…

Katie had a lot of quality time with Auntie Giftay.  Even though she says Auntie Debbie is her favorite, she still loves you!

Aloha!  I miss Hawaii!

Hawaii!

It’s always hard to come back to work after vacation (especially with the time change and daylight savings).  I had to literally roll myself out of bed today…but back to reality!

So we were in Hawaii for our cousins’ Johnny and Joy’s wedding.  We started off with five days in Kauai and then headed to Oahu for the wedding.  The weather in Kauai sucked.  Light rain here and there but it was the wind that was annoying.  Ishya and I had a saying, “If only it were hot….”.  We pretty much said that every day multiple times a day.  We made a couple attempts to lay out at the beach but it either rained on us or the wind was so strong, there was a mini sand storm blowing at us.  We ate a lot though.  Tried a bunch of places but Hamura’s is still my favorite.  Saimin and lilikoi pie everyday!

In Oahu, the weather was much warmer but still a bit cloudy.  Johnny and Joy’s wedding was beautiful and it didn’t rain until we moved inside to eat.  Just in time.  It was fun to hang out with the family.  After the wedding we even had time to lay out at the beach.  Katie LOVED the sand and the water.  It looks like we’ll be making lots of trips to the beach this summer.

Ishya has most of pictures but here are some from my camera.

Congrats to Joy and Johnny!!
