Hawaii!

It’s always hard to come back to work after vacation (especially with the time change and daylight savings).  I had to literally roll myself out of bed today…but back to reality!

So we were in Hawaii for our cousins’ Johnny and Joy’s wedding.  We started off with five days in Kauai and then headed to Oahu for the wedding.  The weather in Kauai sucked.  Light rain here and there but it was the wind that was annoying.  Ishya and I had a saying, “If only it were hot….”.  We pretty much said that every day multiple times a day.  We made a couple attempts to lay out at the beach but it either rained on us or the wind was so strong, there was a mini sand storm blowing at us.  We ate a lot though.  Tried a bunch of places but Hamura’s is still my favorite.  Saimin and lilikoi pie everyday!

In Oahu, the weather was much warmer but still a bit cloudy.  Johnny and Joy’s wedding was beautiful and it didn’t rain until we moved inside to eat.  Just in time.  It was fun to hang out with the family.  After the wedding we even had time to lay out at the beach.  Katie LOVED the sand and the water.  It looks like we’ll be making lots of trips to the beach this summer.

Ishya has most of pictures but here are some from my camera.

Congrats to Joy and Johnny!!

Weekend

I love it when people get married in Orange County! Much closer for us! :) This past Saturday we went to Ameet & Manasee’s wedding in Dana Point. There was a beautiful Hindu ceremony followed by a yummy cocktail hour and delicious Indian food for dinner. One thing I learned that night is that Indian people know how to party! Everyone was on the dance floor after dinner (from little kids, to adults and even the grandparents!). Congrats to the newlyweds! Also, thanks to my in-laws who were visiting this weekend and babysat for us.

I haven’t had time to post about our trip yet but I did sort through all our pics.  Here’s a link to our over 400 pictures.

We’re home!

Maui was awesome and we were really sad to leave.  We took over 500 pictures that I have to sort through.  I started to upload some but it looks like they didn’t all make it up to flickr.  I’ll post them all tonight and will write a post about our trip.  In the meantime, here’s some of the pics that did get uploaded.

Labor Day weekend

Ever wonder why we have a Labor day holiday?  I did.  So I looked it up.  Here’s what I found:  Labor Day is a United States Federal Holiday observed on the first Monday in September. The holiday originated in 1882 as the Central Labor Union (of New York City) sought to create “a day off for the working citizens”.

We had a fun labor day weekend full of weddings, birthdays and anniversaries!  yep…Pish and I had our 5th wedding anniversary on Sunday.  Time really flies when you are having fun!  Five years ago, we were celebrating with our family and friends and were headed off to our group honeymoon in hawaii.  This year, we celebrated my friend Ryan’s wedding in Napa and are headed to hawaii later this week for Leon’s wedding!

Special thanks to Pish’s parents, Ishya and Billy for babysitting Katie.  We were able to enjoy the beautiful wedding, stay over night, and even golf the next day.  (I can’t even remember the last time I golfed!)  Then later that night I found out that Pish had a surprise anniversary dinner planned for the two of us.  I was excited but since we don’t go up north that often, I wanted to spend more time with everyone.  So we invited them all to join us at our yummy steak dinner.  Plus it was Pish’s mom’s birthday.  Another reason to celebrate!

Pretty pretty

We were very excited when Edith and Leon asked Katie to be a ring bearer in their upcoming wedding.  I did have to tell Leon that girls are flower girls and not ring bearers though!  :)

They ordered her a very cute dress and I just picked up some shoes to match.  Check out the outfit below.  I can’t wait for her to get all dressed up!

Congrats!!

Congratulations to Melissa & Paul who got married this past weekend!!  The wedding was beautiful.

It turned out to be a full day event for us.  My bro, Liz and Kennan came over for lunch and got ready at our house.  Once we were all dressed we drove to Josephine’s house in LA to drop off the kids.  Thanks to Josephine and Debbie for babysitting for us!  Then we headed up to the beautiful Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake Village.  It had a great ceremony site, a waterfall on the lawn and a gorgeous reception room.   The drinks were flowing and we had a special waiter that brought us appetizers.  :)   Dinner was awesome and it was fun partying with the old folks (My dad is friends with the father of the bride so a lot of my parent’s friends were there).  After the wedding we headed back to pick up the kids who were both fast asleep.  Deb and Jos looked pretty tired too.  hehe.

Nadine & Yohan’s wedding

CIMG3778

Congratulations to Nadine and Yohan who got married this weekend!  The wedding was in Palos Verdes at La Venta.  Such a beautiful site and the view was amazing!

This was Katie’s first time attending a wedding.  Our plan was to have her nap the whole drive up and be well rested.  Well, things never go as planned.  She cried almost the whole drive (1 hr, 15 minutes) but fell asleep when we were less than 10 minutes away.  argh!  So pish stayed with her in the car and she got about a 30 minute nap.  They made it in time to watch the ceremony and then we were ready to party!

We were so proud of Katie that night.  She was on her best behavior and lasted until we left at 9:45pm!  She loved seeing all the people.  Also, she had her first fancy meal!  After eating her baby food, she wanted more so I shared my delicious dinner with her.  Lobster soup, chilean seabass, and filet mignon! yum yum.  All that food made for some really hard poop the next morning though.  I guess Katie is still getting used to table food.  :)

I didn’t take that many pics since we were busy with Katie, but here’s the ones I did take.  Click HERE.
