Getting ready…

Katie’s first day of pre-school is tomorrow. I feel like it’s my first day of school too. I’m a little nervous and also very excited for her. I’ve been preparing but I still feel like I’m forgetting something. I packed her diapers, wipes, an extra set of clothes, and a blankie. I already made her lunch of pasta and her favorite meatballs, peas/corn, and a little container of fruit. Tomorrow I just need to warm up the pasta and she should be ready to go. I bought her a cute Disney lunch container and her fruit is in a container that is shaped like Mickey Mouse’s ears. We’ll see how much of everything she really eats. The teachers will open the containers for them but will not force them to eat.

We’re home!

We got back late last night. We had a great trip but it’s nice to be home too! The jet lag for me and Pish hasn’t been too bad but Katie only slept from 11pm-1am. Then from 5am-8am. Surprisingly she wasn’t too grouchy today. She took one two hour nap and went to bed at 8:30pm. We are crossing our fingers that she sleeps through the night. I don’t think I can be up from 1am to 5am two nights in a row.

I didn’t take as many pictures as I’d like but I’ll be posting the ones I have soon.

I was proud and sad at the same time today. Katie is growing up so fast!

Katie was scheduled to visit her new classroom for 30 minutes without me today. I had no idea how she would do. So I dropped her off with her teacher (Miss Ana) and she was fine. They sat in the circle for a few minutes and Katie just looked around at the other kids. Then she realized I wasn’t there anymore and started crying. The teacher soothed her and she was fine. I peeked through the window but she would keep looking for me. So decided to just wait in the car. I went in 30 minutes later and the teacher said she was doing really well and might as well stay through snack time. So I went back to the car for another 30 minutes. Again, I went inside and the teacher said she was still doing great and if I wanted, Katie could stay through their classwork time. Sure! So Katie ended up staying for a total of 2 hours. When I finally went inside to get her, she was sitting in a little chair at a little table doing her work. She’s growing up so fast! I told her it was time to go and she started to say good bye to the teachers and to the other kids.

On another note, if anyone is wondering….Katie pooped twice today. Usually we are happy if she poops once a day. So today we are extra happy. Yay Katie!:)

Ting Christmas party

This past saturday we attended the annual Ting Christmas party. I think the non-kid couples were a little surprised because there were kids everywhere! It was really fun seeing everyone and the food was awesome. I went for three helpings of the mac n cheese. Not too good for my thighs but it’s the holidays right??

Here’s some pics of the kids. It was so cute because all the little girls were in dresses. Katie wore a cute dress that my mom gave her but it was a bit long. I thought she looked like a polygamist wife (I recently watched a polygamy documentary) and Regina said Rachel looked like a puritan. haha…whatever they were wearing, they were adorable.

School Visits

Katie’s new school lets new students visit the classroom a few times before they start so that the kids aren’t too shocked on their first day. So on Friday, we visited Katie’s school and got to meet her teacher (Miss Ana). She was really nice. She talked to us a little about the schedule, showed us the classroom, let us look at some of the Montesorri work projects, and answered all our questions. Afterwards, we let Katie look at the playground where the other kids were and two girls immediately came over and wanted to show her around. When it was time to leave, Katie cried. I guess it’s a good sign if she doesn’t want to leave.

We have another 15 minute meeting with the teacher on Monday and then Tuesday, Katie goes into the classroom (without us) for 30 minutes. Let’s hope that goes well!

Hand washing

At work, I’ve seen many people use the bathroom and head right out the door. No hand washing?!?! It really grosses me out. Don’t they know they should always wash their hands after using the bathroom? Luckily we have a trash can right by the door so I can use a paper towel to open the door before exiting.

My boss has seen the same in the men’s bathroom. We now have a list of non-hand washer people that we share with each other. That way we know not to shake hands with these specific people.

Maybe I need to share Katie’s potty videos with them. They teach, pee pee/poo poo and then wash your hands. I didn’t think this was something that needed to be taught to adults!

I have been lazy with the picture taking and uploading lately. sorry…Here’s a little catch up.

Katie loves washing the car with dada.

Katie got professional haircut #2. We tried another kids place and it was $3 cheaper than the mall place we went to last time. I’ve been trimming her bangs since her last cut but they weren’t really even. These bangs are a bit short for my taste but I guess I won’t have to trim them for a while!

Katie’s ready for school! I found this backpack online and had to get it. Katie starts school in January and I wanted her to have a backpack for her toys on our vacation. Isn’t is cute?!?! Katie loves her monkeys.

Morning Date

Pish and I went on a date this past weekend! Golf at 5am. We played the back 9 at Strawberry Farms and then had breakfast. It was really fun and I even beat pish. hehe. Thanks to Pish’s mom who watched Katie for us that morning. She’s in town to see her favorite dentist (she had a broken tooth).

I always love christmas time. Jolly music, beautiful decorations, and presents! Well, this year we decided not to get a tree since we won’t be here on Christmas day. I’m a little sad about that but I put up our other decorations today. The mantle is all decorated and stockings are up. That makes me smile.

Sleeping in

It took Katie 19 months to figure out how…but she is finally sleeping in past 6am! This weekend it was 6:20am but anything is better than 5am. Pish says he still wakes up at 5 because he’s used to it but I’ve been enjoying the extra sleep. I hope I didn’t just jinx myself for tomorrow morning…
